Q: What brought you to our website? If it was another site, please let us know where you heard of us. A: Usually when I get into a game, I do a bit of research prior to starting - in this case, the night before early release on the Wildstar forums themselves. Checked it out under the only RP server there was, and between the name and the general community feel with long history and potential for steady progress, I had to see for myself. What do you know; here I am now. Q: This recruitment process is a great opportunity to get to know you a little bit. Please tell us a little about yourself personally and add in your past MMO experience. A: Er, my personality's a little skippy, I have to admit; I get to being anywhere from extremely happy-go-lucky to most anywhere else on the spectrum in the blink of an eye, but for the most part I'm a reasonable person - that sort of 'mind over matter' person if you will, and generally a fun guy to have idle chats with. As far as MMO history goes, I started with a pay-to-win WoW knockoff and have been playing mostly that for about four years, with a small dose of PWI on the side early on. I dabbled in Neverwinter for all of a few days too, if that counts. Regardless, as far as intention goes, I'm all about keeping the experience friendly and entertaining. Q: What time of day do you typically play? How often? A: Well, being as I've only played for one day thus far, I can't rightly say but I would bet (if I were a betting man) that mid-to-late afternoons on weekdays and the potential for all day on the weekends on a daily basis (with the occasional break) would fit the bill most. Q: What kind of character do you typically play? Tell us about your main character, and please list any alts that you will be bringing into the guild as well. A: My typical playstyle revolves largely around mobility and stylization over actual practicality. As I've noted the Spellslinger was (at least arguably) the most mobile and flashy class in the game, I just couldn't say no to running one. I have plans to make a Stalker as well, but I need to get a good enough feel for the game's content in progression before I go making alts just yet. Q: Are you affiliated with any other guilds? A: Nope. Haven't even looked - and with any luck, I won't be looking later either. Q: What is it you're looking for in a guild? Why do you want to join OSD? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A: In that order? A guild (in my opinion) is centrally based around a collective community and common goal. As far as OSD is concerned (in Wildstar, mind you) that goal appeared to be to progress to a point of prominence since the game itself is still in its early stages; it proceeds to have a lot of newcomer traffic as a result. From what I've seen so far, the sense of community in OSD meets my personal ideals as a gamer eye-to-eye. As far as how I can best help? Well, that will come with a little experience, but I pathologically cannot let someone who needs help figuring things out go unhelped. The moment I know something, you can expect me to turn around and pass that know-how on. As for the community helping me? Well, this is an MMO after all; several things simply can't be taken on by one's lonesome, and there's no passing up having people you're associated with to have some fun times with. Q: We have found that guild members have a better gaming experience if they use the forums and the events calender. This allows you to get game information and join you guildmates in-game as a group. Members should RSVP for scheduled events as their real life schedule permits. Creating events is good for the community and is encouraged whenever possible. What are your thoughts on this? A: I may have a little trouble adjusting to being attached to the site, however I am able to compromise as needed. Generally speaking, my experience with guilds has been more spontaneous due to fluctuating activity, but while I agree that planning such events ahead of time encourages a much higher stability and is overall beneficial, I will have to take some time to adjust to such a measure rather than just hopping onto the game the moment I take a seat. Q: OSD is generally a "casual, do it all" guild, meaning we welcome players from all playstyles and don't limit our focus to one playstyle in particular. We welcome PvPers, PvEers, Roleplayers, Crafters, etc. For example, while we may offer weekly raids, we are not a hardcore raiding guild that requires you to raid 5 or 6 nights a week. We also do not consider any one playstyle to be more important than another, all members of OSD are equal. For example, a hardcore PvPer will never be considered "more valuable" to the guild than a casual Roleplayer would be. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic? A: Of course; everyone has their own way to play. The MMO I came from had its highest selling point on a daily GvG event, and it annoyed me to no end that even on the PvE servers the only thing they bothered with was PvP. Having a community that takes everything into equal perspective is exactly what I was hoping for - who knows? I might even wind up changing my old views on PvP as a result. Q: With the previous question in mind...we will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role, or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and ven the playing field a little. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic? A: I believe I've said it before; I'm all about positive experiences and learning new things. While I doubt I'm going to be needed in a run (as there is never a shortage of DPS characters in a game to be pulled from), if I'm not completely immersed in something and can spare the time to lend a hand, you'd better believe I'll be there the moment I can. Granted, if I find that I really don't fit the bill after becoming involved, I may have a slight problem, but in most cases, I don't see where that would come up. Q: If you violate any rules defined within the gaming EULA, or the OSD Code of Conduct you will face disciplinary action up to and including removal from this community. Do you understand and agree with this rule? A: Of course. Q: Is bacon awesome? Why? A: What an odd question. I wouldn't use the term 'awesome' though; I tend to associate that with personality aspects. Tasty and delicious? Darn right it is.
