    Greetings traveler,

First and foremost, I feel it is important for you to clearly understand who we are, what we value, and most importantly, how you might fit into our community. This guide was created for this very reason. So for now, sit back, relax, and allow me to walk you through the steps required to become a part of what we truly believe is the best online community (guild) around. So go and refill your coffee cup, I’ll continue when you return…

    …Ok, good…here we go:

The first thing to remember, above all else, we pride ourselves on being a rather mature community although most of our significant others may beg to differ. This organization is not interested in blasting through content just to be the 1st at anything. We, as one of our guild mates have stated, play these games to have fun, relax, decompress from work, and enjoy the content. Stopping to smell the flowers along the way is what we’re all about. So, does this sound like you? -=chuckles=- Good! Read on…

Our community is very interested in how we might be able to leverage our Role-Playing talents and imaginations to enhance the gaming experience. Does this mean we are a hardcore role-playing community? Absolutely not, but we’re mature enough to respect the various playing styles of our members. Anything we can think of doing to make the experience more exciting and entertaining for the group, we’re all over it.

We don’t endorse mass recruitment, or “blind recruiting” in any way, shape or form. Numbers, frankly, are far less important to us than the quality of the people around us. If you wish to enter our stronghold and become one, with the Order of the Silver Dragons, we welcome you to continue reading these scrolls in order to familiarize yourself with our culture and our laws.

I believe the most critical thing I can tell you at this point is that we value our online community. Communication is key. Our online forums are the core and heart of this organization. Your contributions here are how we measure your worth. There will be a day, a time, an age, when this game, or that, will fade away into oblivion but as we see it, the Order will remain… This is not just a “Gaming Guild” you are joining friend, it is a community of peers, and we’re a family.

Traveler, if you can live with our beliefs, we welcome you.

Now... Let's get your account registered. You can do this by clicking the REGISTER button up above. Once the registration is done, continue reading on.

TIP: There are a few SIMPLE steps required to apply to our community. To ensure you have all the steps accounted for, read all the content and associated LINKS provided in this thread. Your application will be ignored and deleted if these steps are not accomplished.

****VERY IMPORTANT READING BELOW. PLEASE, TAKE THE TIME AND READ IT****

PLEASE READ THIS. IT ANSWERS THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

    Getting Started!!!!

After you have registered.... To get you started, here are a few things’ that might help you out.

To learn how to gain access to additional forums read this link (This is one of the most typical things overlooked by new applicants): Click: How-To Gain Additional Forum Access

After reading the above link, you’ll have been exposed to your “User Control Panel” AKA “USER CP”… Make sure to go to “Edit Options” and ensure your TIMEZONE is set properly. This will effect how you see scheduled events.

When browsing our forums, you’ll want to ensure that you don’t miss anything! You can click the “SEARCH” button up above and then a submenu will pop…Select “NEW POSTS” and you will see all the new posts since your last visit or that you have not read. Since you’re new, you’ll probably want a clean slate…. Click the “LINKS” button up top, then, select “MARK FORUMS AS READ.”

You might also find it convenient to join us in Ventrilo (Voice Chat Server). Yes, we have own server so we talk live amongst our friends while playing various games. You will need to be a member of the "Citizen" usergroup to access this link. Click: For step-by-step Ventrilo Instruction

Lastly, once you have joined the “Citizen” user group, you will have access to our EVENTS subforums. From there you can RSVP scheduled sessions or create a session of your own! It’s simple…

That should get you started… Feel free to poke around and get acquainted with your home. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy yourself. We have a bunch of wonderful people that would be more than happy to help you along if you have any questions.

    Calendar & Events 101

Having a hard time finding groups that play while you're online? Don't you hate it when you log in just to find you were 30 minutes too late in joining that big quest?!?

Let this set of resources help you! It's very simple.

Click here for a detailed event system guide!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... Read this!!!

It's pretty simple, and designed to help you find people with a similar schedule. I for one, enjoy logging in and jumping right into the action.

Don't think for one second that by creating your event alone people will automatically be lining up to join. Being responsive to questions that are posted about your event. Advertising your event amongst your peers... Being reliable and not flaking out on your event... These things will all help you rally the troops and build interest. Be patient... the rewards are worth while!

    Manditory Reading!!!

    *** CODE OF CONDUCT ***

-Be courteous and respectful not only to fellow guild members, but to all members of the gaming community.

-Flaming posts within the forums, and/or chat in game or voice chat content that is being viewed by others as hostile and/or "uncomfortable" should be taken into a private forum (/tell or PM's).

-Respect the Silver Dragon’s reputation. You represent our community in every one of your interactions with other player characters. In a sense, everyone acts as an ambassador of this guild; we need not create any unnecessary conflict.

Use common sense, if you have an issue, talk to an officer

Keep cursing/swearing to a minimum in the forums, guild chat and ESPECIALLY in voice chat... some of us have children in the house.

Using any game exploit (shortcutting game features in a way NOT intended by turbine) and buying/selling plat online (for real money) will get you and immediate guild expulsion.

In its most basic form... AVOID THE DRAMA! =) Officers like to have fun as well.

    Almost done!

    **Introduction Post**

Once you have read everything up above, make yourself an INTRODUCTION post within the Silver Gates forum. Tell us a little about you... Let me help you by asking some key question:

    - What brought you to our website?

    - Why might you be interested in joining our community?

    - Have you been playing MMO's for a while or are you just getting started?

    - Do you feel comfortable with the website and it's resources after having read the posts above this thread?

    - What kind of character do you typically play? Tell us about your main character?

    - Describe your style of game play...

    - What time of day do you typically play? How often?

    - Are you affiliated with any other guilds?

    - What are your characters names?

    - What server are they on? ( We play on Argonnessen)

After you've made this introduction post, we will review it and then consider accepting your guild application.

    Good luck friend!!

If you REALLY hope to score some points with us...

PLEASE, edit your signature and list your Charatcer Names, Classes, and Levels... It makes it easier to tie the Toon to the Forum name that way. Thanks!!

    Here's How:

    USER CP >>> Edit Signature

If/When you get accepted ingame to our Guild...

If your ingame TOON name greatly varies from your FORUM name here... please use this ALIAS feature when chatting in guild chat (/gu):

This way we know which one of the kagillian ALTS you are playing today...lol

    Code:
    /alias ;g [Sook]

I use this to chat in guild... THis way they know our alts...and who's behind them.

For example, once the alias is set by typing what I posted above... you can do this in chat.

Start by hitting enter to get the curser in the chat box so you can type...obviously.

    then type

    Code:
    /g ;g Hey everyone!!

What will show is (in guild chat!!)

    After Acceptance!!!!!!

Once you have been guilded we require that you add your characters to our Roster Database. This will allow us to keep a census of our members and which toons they are responsible for.

We will conduct periodic audits and if there is a character not logged in the system we'll be removing the name from the ingame guild. Not because we don't like you, but because it's the only way we can create some consistency and tracking. =) If this accidentally happens to you, simply contact an officer and we'll assist you accordingly.

That said... Here's how the system works:

Q: How do I get to the Roster Database?

A: From the MAIN home page in the "Site Navigation" menu found in the upper left portion of the screen, there is a ROSTER option. Click it! =)

Q: Ok, I'm there... What am I looking at?

A: The body of this page is divided into 2 parts... Upper and Lower.

The Upper section lists all the character names (alphabetically) you might find ingame. Underneath each entry, you'll see who owns that character with some basic character info. For more details on these characters you can click the character link.

The Lower section is an inventory of every forum user name (members) that have created characters in this roster. By clicking on any of these names you can see which characters these people play in one simple consolidated location. As a matter of fact, you can find your own entries here as well... Some people might use this link to provide an all encompassing Signature link for their toons. *shrugs*

Q: How do I add my Characters?

A: Simple, just click on the "Submit Character" button in the mid-header of the page. Fill in the blanks!! You can add posts that will be bound to this character entry. It's a nice way to provide updates on your build. I encourage you to place the Character Planner content here as well.

Q: As my character level increases can I make a change to my entry?

A: Yes, just edit the entry.

Q: If I see a character build I like, can I add it to a favorites list?

A: Yes, while viewing a character there is a "Character Options" pull down menu in the header to the right. From this area you can add a character to your favorites. When you do this it will flag it and you can see it easily in the left column added to a section called. "My Favorites." Now you can track these builds easily.

Q: It might take some time for me to add my character. Can I save it as a draft before publishing it? Or, what if I want to build a toon just for planning purposes before I want to publish it to the roster?

A: When you are creating the character from the "Submit Character" option do not click the "Submit" option until you click the "save as draft" check box. Then you can go to the "My Stuff" section in the mid-header and find your "Drafts."

Q: I might want to add some commentary to my character within the roster. How do I do that?

A: Only the OWNER of the character can do this but you simply make a post in the character entry and you're done! Only OWNERS can do this! I made this the case to avoid clutter. Discussions on the build can be done in our DDO forums as usual... Just link the toon to your Roster. Simple....

Q: Since I can't comment on a toon by replying to it within the Roster... How do I acknowledge a solid build when I see it?

A: I encourage everyone to RANK the builds... This rating system can be found in the header to the left while you are viewing the actual toon in question.
