Greetings traveler!
If you would like to see what lies behind these gates, I have a little quest for ya first. A crafty goblin sneak stole my clan battle axe right from under my fat hairy nose (the many mugs of ale must have blurred my vision). I tracked him to a nearby sewer hole just around the corner. Maybe if you retrieve my axe, I'll put a good word in with the Captian of the guards for ya. *Thorgrimm massages his beard as you spring off to the sewers.*

 

Dagn dwarves ya can't ev'n hold yar liquer. Losing everything ya have after just one or two pints. First the drunken naked dwarf dancing outstide the gates and now ya let yar weapon be stolen from right underneath yar bearded chin by a smelly goblins no less. I say we put a 1 drink minimum on our bearded friends till they learn to handle the good stuff.

 

Thorgrimm challanges Mizz to a drink'in contest!

 

aye you'll get your chance lil buddy. I ll even spot ya 2 drinks.

 

ahh give'in a dwarf a little handicap spot are ya! I'll need four more to make this contest even.

Do you need me to call Pizen to come and take him away? I am sure an hour or two of Pizen's song and dance he will learn to keep a closer eye on his stuff.

Goblins hmmph not inside these gates, must have been over there by the Dinghy.

Oh well I am sure I can find a recruit or two to fetch his Axe with him.

"the goblin went where"!
Araevin looks into the sewers holding his nose and looking at his new boots
"you must be jesting, the stench of that place is enought to rot the nose off a kobold. Are you sure that's where he went"
and with a sigh of acceptance
"very well", takes off new boots "it would be a shame to ruin such beautiful new boots, hold these. When i return with your axe" and muters under his breath something about dwarves and their dang axes " there had better be a hot bath drawn, for it will take a week to wash this stench out of my hair."
Araevin looks around for others to join in the quest and hesitantly lowers himself into the sewers

 

From the depths of the sewers a clear elven voice rings out -
"Are any others coming to your aid, or is the pleasure of this stench mine alone"
And without really waiting for a reply, pulls out his trusty bow and begins to put those tracking skills to use.

 

I'll wait up here until someone needs a heal

 

Holding a pair of stinky boots, Thorgrimm waits anxiously for his clan battle axe return. *Thorgrimm yells out as the new comer lowers into the sewers "hurry up boy, I'm getting thirsty!*

 

Araevin continues tracking the goblin within the sewers . . . .

"….how can dwarfs live below the surface? If their homes smell like this, no wonder they have such a hearty constitution.
If he looses his axe again, there's no way in Khyber I'll …" with the sounds of splashing up ahead Araevin stops mumbling to himself and draws an arrow.

Up ahead he sees a lone goblin milling about. Hah, I will be out of here and in a hot bath before my boots get cold he thinks. He draws back his bow edges as close as comfortable to not alert the goblin and lets the arrow fly. A perfect shot as always. The goblin falls, not even knowing it's dead. Araevin approaches the goblin and begins searching for the axe….

"all to easy. This was the goblin, ha, Thorgrimm must be one sloppy drunk. I swear dwarfs are. . . " a call from up ahead makes Araevin freeze. Again the call comes. And a third time, this one sounding more like a question.

"damn there was more than one. Araevin what did you get yourself into" As the sounds of something approaches his location, Araevin backs away from the dead goblin and presses himself hard against the walls of the sewers, cringing as the muck of the sewers gets on his cloak.

So Araevin sees a second goblin, as soon as the second sees the first with an arrow sticking out of its chest, he sends out a cry of alarm. Soon the sounds of many feet sloshing in the water can be heard, and Araevin starts moving toward one of the side tunnels he had spotted a few yards back. But the sides of the tunnel are slick and Araevin looses his grasp and a foot falls into the water. The second goblin stops what he's doing and looks directly at Araevin. Knowing he's no longer safe trying to hide, Araevin makes a run for it, and the second goblin shouts something back down the tunnel. Suddenly the sounds of blood hungry goblins are on Araevin's heels.

Araevin continues running, hopping to put some distance between he and the pack of goblins so that he can hide and give them the slip.

"if this dwarf gets me killed searching for his axe, I'm gonna come back and haunt him for the rest of his life" he mutters as he continues running and wondering if any others will heed the dwarfs call for assistance.

 

Meanwhile back on the surface.

Hey you new recruit, you want to prove yourself to the guards here a the gate well get down and this sewer and find that Axe. Also while your down there see if you can find that Elf that went down there or at least his body so Jesinia can tend to him.

BAH! Tell the lazy dunken dwarf...What? I need to be more specific, Ok...The one with the beard! Now tell him to go do it himself!

 

I would do it myself, but I'm on duty at the gates! *Thorgrimm shakes his ball of a fist at Faegon*

 

After running for what seemed hours, with the goblins still trailing behind, Araevin throw's himself prone on the floor of a side passage. With a final cringe and as the goblins approach even closer, he takes a deep breath and submerges himself under the water.

As he suppresses the feeling of bile swelling in his throat and mouth at the thought of sewer water soiling his hair, the goblins continue on down the passage he had previously been running. When he can no longer hear their splashes, he slowly emerges from his submerged hiding spot.

This axe better be made of solid gold, or that dwarf and I are having words!
he whispers as he starts following the group of goblins hoping they'll lead him back to their lair.

 

Vansung I ll grant ya some leave of tha gate for a time if yar not ta scared to help out the elf in retrieven ya blasted axe. Our friend thar has been gone much longar then expected and I don't want the his blood to be shed.

 

Did you say scared :x ! No my lord, thank you for the leave! *Thorgrimm runs off for the sewer entrance, handaxe at the ready.*

I hope that elf hasn't got himself killed yet!

 

Jesinia wonders where Thorgrimm got the second axe and why we have an elf missing if Thorgrimm has an axe already... and what kind of healing she'd be in for today.

 

...Around an hour later

Thorgrimm (clan axe in hand) and the elf newcomer emerge from the sewers covered in green goblin blood. Thorgrimm gives the elf a very high recommendation to pass the sliver gates to the captian and Lord Mizzat.

The many ales are on me elf! I hope you like ale?

Oh by the way, here's your boots back!

 

All dwarves carry a handaxe for backup!
