I have fully read the OSD Code of Conduct and Philosophy. Q 1: Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us? • Playing: Star Wars: The Old Republic Q 2: Do you currently have characters playing in game? If so, What is the name of your in game character and what server are they on? • Star Wars: The Old Republic • Korym. The Harbinger server. Imperial (sith Juggernaut) • (Already in Astarot, courtesy of Casro) Q 3: Guilds can serve many roles, and as with most things, expectations matter. In order to get a better feel for whether this is a good fit, we would like to know what you look for in a guild. • A sensible set of ground rules and philosophy (OSD has this) • Sense of community • Positivity • From there the sky is the limit. Amazing things are possible. Q 4: When and How often do you usually play? This is so we know when to look for you in game and get you in the Guild. (Please add your time zone in the answer) • Korym in SW:TOR is atypical, in that he will never be a main character — he is my ‘break’ character. While I play an awful lot, a lot of my focus in around organising things on other characters for a small group of RL friends who get together. • My timezone is GMT+10/+11. I am often around my evenings; and fairly often able to be on US evenings (my middle of the day). • Because of this I may be a lurker for now. Q 5: Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played them? Please share one of your favorite memories in a MMO you have played. • Dabble Very Lightly (a couple of hours a month): The Secret World • May Play: Elder Scrolls Online, soon™ • Have played: City of Heroes, Neverwinter Nights, Champions Online, FFXIV • No single favourite memory. Some of my favourite memories are editing the weekly ParagonWiki newsletter in CoH and adding to the world lore there, some excellent Rp arcs I participated in and some I ran. Some silly humour. Designing bases in CoH. The first time I level-capped in CoH. Q 6: What is the best game you have ever played and why? • Tricky! Depends on my mood and which rose-tinted glasses I am wearing at the time. I think my all-time favourite was the first Dragon Age (immersion), CoH (community), and the LucasArts Dark Jedi series (uber powerful with glowing sticks of doom and absurd leaparounds. Awesome!). Q 7: Are there any upcoming games you're interested in playing? • Elder Scrolls Online (maybe) • Space Hulk: Deathwing (maybe) • I want to experiment and see if the co-op mod for Skyrim works, but I have to say I am finding Skyrim unimpressive so far. Q 8: OSD advertises on various gaming websites, Facebook, Twitter, and in the games that we are playing. The following questions will help us know what formats are working and where we can improve. Who or What brought you to our Gates? • I stopped and talked to Casro’s character, Dasgho, in SW:TOR. Dasgho is a Big Blue Guy, kind of hard to miss. Excellent dress sense though! Q 9: There are many ways to engage and get the full guild experience with OSD. How often do you see yourself using the Forums / Discord rather than in-game to interact with the community? • Forums: Sporadically (depends on future games I am yet to commit to) • Discord rarely at this time unless later I engage in a game where OSD has a large active presence. Q 10: Please tell us a little about yourself. No need to be too explicit. We don’t need your home address or shoe size. Let us know about your hobbies if you have them. Do you have family? Pets? Work? Do you plan to conquer the world by using Lucky Rabbit’s feet or some other crazy idea? (This is probably one of the biggest questions on this application as it lets you tell us about you.) • My name is Chris • I am an older guy living far away from most of you in Sydney, Australia (yes, everything is poisonous) • I identify as gay and do some work within the LGBTQI community • Hobbies include cartography, writing stories, running RP arcs as a story teller and some other stuff (being old I have collected a heap of hobbies) • I plan to get more fit (boring I know), stop smoking (boring I know), no pets but I am a and a cat and dog whisperer to an entire street of cats and gods, visit more outback places, train redback spiders and funnel-webs to attack on command, go on holidays, and indulge carefully in good RP and creative stuff. Q 11: Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams? • Bacon is not awesome. It is evil except on BLOT (bacon lettuce red onion and tomato sandwiches on Turkish bread) • Good ham off the bone is awesome. It manifests as eggs benedict and at Christmas time, and when I make a quiche.
Welcome! Sounds like you'll fit right in. We have or had a presence in most of the games you mentioned. There is an active chapter in ESO. We have a couple people that play Secret World and also setting up Roll20 groups, taking both DM's and players!
Welcome to the Gates, Taosin! I saw the timezone and thought, "Where in the world...?" You might like some of the RP stuff we have posted thru the site. The website and guild have had some major restructuring done that was turned into a story in the Silver Flagon Tavern forum. A static group in DDO is telling their story in the Chronicle: Forgotten Realms and a couple of our campaigns in PnP DnD had RP threads that helped fill out those campaigns .
Welcome Taosin! Can't wait to meet you while we run about the Fleet. Good bunch here, you should feel at home and don't worry about the time zones, theres lads and ladies from all about here.
