    Hello Friends,

Before I even start, I want to tell you that I'm very impressed from what I saw on your site. An organized guild, mature, with a fantastic back-story and a fantasy flavor.

My RL name is Idan, 31m, married +1, an Oracle DBA in my profession. I live in Colorado now, originally from a far away country - Israel. My experience with D&D goes back to childhood, with PnP, and a bunch of friends in a basement. Now, with RL work and family, there's not enough time for that anymore. I played Horizons and EQ2, and led a small guild of ~20 close friends there. Once I heard about DDO, I knew my time in EQ is limited, there is just no platform I love more than the D&D setting.

I am now at your gates, after visiting a dozen guilds. What brings me here? I quote: "Our community goal is to touch every corner in every dungeon, catacomb, sewer, marketplace, etc.". After playing the beta for a while, I can tell you that what bothered me the most is the way peeps were running, hardly stopping to think about strategy, understand the story and really explore the adventures properly. I will be active every night, and I'm looking for a close group of friends, who enjoy the game as it should be. Characters are less important, it's us behind them that matter, and I hope I found the community I was looking for.

I intend to play a Cleric as a primary, and a rogue. I never role played in MMO's before, but If the atmosphere is there, I am all for it!

I hope I am not too late, and that I can still find a shelter in your stronghold,
    Idan.

    Welcome magsol,

As you might have seen today is the last day we are considering members so please stay close to the gates and respond to the guards questions.

Let me start by saying your initial post touched on a lot of what we are looking for, so lets hear more about your plans for your cleric. Do you see them as a battle cleric or maybe a healer?

I will stay close to the gates to answer all questions...

My Cleric will be able to fight, but will focus on healing as her primary objective (yes, her...). Although not fighting in the front lines, I will make all effort to be our second line of defense, protecting our spell casters. Healing will be a priority when adventuring, I will make sure we are all safe from any evil we'll encounter and heal as necessary. I am still working on a back story for her, haven't finalized this yet.

Also, you'll be able to find me in stormreach on a mostly daily basis, from 10PM MTN and on.

May I ask how many already gathered in the stronghold?

Greetings and well met. Our numbers grow on a daily basis. Might I as what you would hope to accomplish within the guild. What is your main goal in the game? Once again...sit back and relax as I am sure a few more members will be in to greet you.

Sure. I come to your gates tonight because I would like to be a part of a mature and experienced group of adventurers. Warriors who can truly appreciate the world around them, explore, and help each other to maximize their true potential. Inside, I will try to do all I can in order to help our brothers and sisters, whenever I am needed. Advancing myself in the arts of war is not a goal, but a mean in order to reach far lands, and slay the sources of evil. I will always seek the benefit of the group before my own.

What's important to me, is that we'll work together as a group to explore and adventure, get to know each other well, and enjoy on the way doing it. No rush, no pressure, just D&D - the way it's meant to be played.

Since it's late, I am setting up a tent outside your stronghold, maybe set a fire to warm me up with your permission. Have a good night, and we'll speak in the morning!

    Idan.

Aye, careful with the mosquitos around here. They can be as big as kobolds. Good night.

*Falstaff brings out some more wood for the fire* This lad must be cold. *Falstaff fetches a blanket* I'm sure we will see him in the morning.

*Throws some more wood on the fire* These mornings can also be cold - especially if you have to eat a cold breakfast.

Welcome to our fine gates :) Tell us some more about the person behind the character. Take care.

I, too, would like to know more about the person behind the character. Why do you choose to play a female character? It fascinates me that males attempt to play females in these games. I know, the female characters have all the curves, but there's got to be some other deep-seated reason :)

    Tell us more.

As of this morning our active duty roster shows 120 members. We figured we will add a couple more today, and over the next few weeks some might drop off due to inactivity while others might seek fame and fortune elsewhere.

Once the dust has settled a bit we plan on assessing our strengths and determining if we should re-open the gates.

hmmm... i always thought it was "deep-seeded"
ya know, like planting the seed very deep... to make sure it takes a strong root hold... hmm...

anyway... i always find myself to be the most scrutinous of guards... but our friend here has already answered any questions i would pose... and answered them well!

*Yndrofian sits back to see how the rest of the conversations goes*

And what may you think of venturing with an elf, or dwarf for that matter. Will you fight side by side and then drink an ale to celebrate our victory?

LOL. Thanks all for the welcome!

The blanket helped me go through the night, and I still owe you an answer on that female thing :)))

But, in the real world, a production database just crashed, and until I resolve this I will have to leave the gates temporarily. I will be back to answer you all!

And thanks again for keeping me comfort tonight,
    Idan.

I have a short break here, so a bit more about the person behind the Cleric :)

As I told before, I am married, have a little girl (2 yo), and I'm in the IT business. I love skiing, and for this, Colorado is pretty much one big paradise! I was born and raised in Israel, and came to the US for a few years to implement a large project on a customer site. I will eventually be back to my family and friends, but it will not be in the next few years. Please excuse me in advance for any mistakes in English, as this is not my native language. This brings me to the voice chat topic. As much as I love in game voice chat for the comfort, and maybe the strategy benefits it brings - I have to tell you that sometimes I have the feeling it breaks the fantasy spirit a bit. I guess it's really depends on the group and the general atmosphere, so I will sure give it a try and see how it goes.

As for my female Cleric, well, I think it's all about the fantasy... I guess I took it to a bit of extreme here, but don't worry - my deepest seeds are still male :) I am waiting to see what my wife will have to say when she'll see the char I'm playing - should be fun........ I will make sure she's not too pretty, don't want to put unnecessary tension here :)

Well, I have to get back to RL, but I will check with you back soon.
    Idan.

Thank you for your reply and keeping an eye on the forums. It is a little slow here at the gate house, but once the sun sets the Guards will come back to the tavern from the training fields.

There are a number of members who feel the same way about voice chat. They prefer to do roleplaying via the keyboard and not over voice chat, I guess the voice of the character doesn't match what comes over the speaker.

You should still have an easy time finding a guild team which doesn't use voice chat or one you can listen to and respond via chat.

Thanks my friend. I had a really bad day, and this is probably the only thing that worked for me today...

May I ask what is the next step? Are we waiting for the other guards to make the final decision?

As a hopeful applicant at the gates I wish you luck and hope to see you in the market place.
