Q. Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us, and do you currently have characters playing in game? If so what are their names? Which realm? Which platform? A. FFXIV. My character's name is Post Cards. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/2264441/ My character is currently in Ultros but after some looking around, I will move to Diabolos when my transfer cooldown is ready (I am hoping this will be tomorrow). I have a transfer cooldown because I moved an alt to another server to see how active it was. I am currently playing on a PC. Q. This is the getting to know you portion of the questionnaire. Please tell us a little about yourself. (Hobbies?Family? Pets? School? Work? Any super hero or super villain abilities, nefarious schemes we should know about?) A. Some of the things I am interested in is video games and technology. I tend to read a lot about the newest tech coming out. I also have an Oculus on pre-order but it will be awhile before I get it. I work a full time job as a Systems Administrator. It has been very stressful lately. I don't remember the last time I had a full day off. Q. Why do you want to join OSD? What is it you are looking for in a guild? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A. I am looking for an active Free Company in FF14. I saw on the forums that there were a lot of veteran MMORPG players in here. This is what brought me over here. It helps to be a part of a group that does content together. Q - What led you to our website and ultimately to filling out this application? (Which friend? Website? In game ad? Psychic magnetism?) A. I was looking through the FFXIV forums trying to get a feel for each server. I saw a forum post on the Diabolos section which brought me here. Q. What is your typical game play schedule like? Please include times and time zones. A. EST. I tend to play a lot after work. Currently my schedule is pretty inconsistent due to work. If I play on weekdays it will be sometime after 4:30 PM EST. Q. What is the best game you have ever played and why? A. Quakeworld Team Fortress. This game is what got me into online multiplayer games. It was the first game where I became a part of a competitive community. Q. What platforms do you usually game on? If not just a PC, which consoles? A. PC! Q. Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played for? A. I tried playing Everquest long time ago. I never got into it. I tried playing WoW due to my friends playing it. I really got into it due to the PVP. I played in Darkspear back in Vanilla times. I jumped around servers due to being in the military. I did some hardcore raiding back in Vanilla and Cataclysm. I did casual raiding during Wrath. I played a little bit of Warhammer, Rift, and SWTOR. I played TERA for a little more than a year and then moved to FFXIV: ARR since beta. I did a little casual raiding for Binding Coil and Second Coil. I stopped raiding altogether after that. I messed around with Blade and Soul too. Q. What is your favorite part of an MMO and why? (Leveling, PvP, raiding, community, roleplaying, crafting, achievements, exploration, etc) A. I like raiding and PVP. Q. Are there any future MMO's or multiplayer games you're interested in playing? A. None at the moment. Q. OSD is more than just a guild in a single game. We are a community of gamers that come together through the forums and Teamspeak. Do you plan on being active on the forums and use TS? What are your thoughts on using event calendars on the forums to coordinate guild events? A. I have no problem talking on the forums as long as it is active. I have no problems using event calendars on forums. Q. OSD has earned and prides itself on a reputation of respect, maturity and integrity. Please read the OSD CODE OF CONDUCT. If you violate any of these rules you jeopardize the reputation of our community and will face disciplinary action up to, and including, removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule? A. Yes Q. We will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time, you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and even the playing field a little. What are your thoughts on this topic? A. The PvP part doesn't really apply in FFXIV but it is something I did a lot of in TERA. There was a lot of guild conflicts in that game and the guild I was in always wanted to win. For raids, if time permits, I have no problem assisting. Q. Pretend you are raiding with the guild and after the final boss fight an uber fantastic, stupendous, ultra rare, sparkly item drops. Who do you think should receive this item and why? A. This is a tough question. If it was gear, I say let the people who can use it roll on it. If it was a mount, I really do not care who gets it because eventually everyone will get one. Q. Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams? A. Bacon is awesome. I don't see why someone who think it isn't. -- OSD Black Default -- vB4 White -- New Grey -- Black Gray -- Default Mobile Style
Ultros, I had a Raiding FC leader there try to recruit me quite a few times to do a server hop back in the 2.0 days - I later found out they never made the jump to 3.0 and left FFXIV to go play other stuff. Great application and thank you for your consideration with us. Everything looks good and I just approved of your forum permissions. Please feel free to do the in game FC application and just state you completed the forum one in your tag line and one of our officers will approve you to get in. In the meanwhile, feel free to check out our FFXIV section of the forums here and whatever other areas catch your interest. In game, We have our FC House in Mists Ward 1, Plot 15 - large mog house in the NE - there always seems to be someone from OSD around there that can help if you have questions. I'm home sick today from work, but should be online later on. Welcome to OSD! Doc
