Anyway... I have received some positive feedback and suggestions towards my OSD Logo. One of the common suggestions was to maybe change the font used for the words. So. I have chosen some of the best looking font styles and applied them to the logo. I thought we as a group could vote on the font to be used. Please vote for your TOP 3 favorite logo styles. The winner will be chosen to be sold in an online store with a modest amount going to keeping our great forum running! I am sitting here contemplating on how to give feedback. Was there a poll I missed earlier with the overall design? I know that who ever made the design put a lot of time and effort into this, and thank you for doing so. I am one who LOVES to wear different apparel, especially something to show off my FC!!!! However, when I look at the design we have here, all I can think about is a uterus (which are beautiful organs). I am a labor and delivery nurse, and have seen pictures of uteri in many different forms drawn in pictures for art and medical books. I don't mean to be harsh, or critical, just being honest. I cannot see myself wearing this design. I am a Silver Dragon for life, OSD forever, OSD ROCKS, you get my drift. I always think simplicity with a message can be more effective and more beautiful in some cases, and I think our logo should be simple yet bold. Perhaps a flying silver dragon with "Order of the Silver Dragons" written underneath, just as an example. I don't want to ruffle anyone's wings, or make anyone shoot a burst of flames at my avatar. If we are going for fundraiser type apparel, mayhap we might needs more designs to choose from. This is my 2 cents. Take from it what you will or simply disregard if I have overflown the lair. Sincerely....................................
Andrameda, Thank you for your insight. No, there was no poll or any design to vote on. We have had an open invitation for members to submit a design for over a year HERE. No one has come forward to submit anything as of yet so I decided to make something up. I showed it around to some members and had some positive feedback initially. So I decided to post up some different versions to get some feedback. I never have seen any of those medical and art pictures that you are alluding to, but that sure is a funny coincidence! I hope you were not offended by the resemblance that was not intentioned. This is by no means the only design or logo that can be place on merch to buy. If we can get more original (not copyrighted) submissions I would be happy to include those in the store. Plus the more artwork by our members means we can make more money for this site to continue! Yea!
I like so much of this but not the way the dragon are positioned. I agree with Andrameda, but maybe it is because I am also a nurse, though not a labor and delivery one. LOL
The design is till rough (as in not detailed and finished) so i didn't want to say i didn't like but after reading what Andrameda said it's really starting to grow on me!
This is true since it kind of reminds me of a ritual you see chalked out on a floor with lots of candles.
In all seriousness ... I understand what your trying to do with shapes and symmetry and it is NOT a bad concept. You stated your not a graphic artist, and i'm not either, so i understand that this might not be your finished concept and all. I'll give you some suggestions that you can feel free to do with as you like. I think logically as in "the dragons are going to run face first into each other." What if you kinda change the size of the dragons so it looks more like "vultures" circling a carcass (only with dragons obviously)? I know this throws the symmetry off but it might actual make for a pretty cood image and get the nurses minds out of ... the gutter. I'd also suggest make the dragons a little more organic, like wavey, so it it look a little more animal. Here's a reference. Also how about rotating the image a few degrees. In doing that you could also make sort of a tornado of dragons if you keep on stacking the image more and more, being careful to break up the images with color and light and shadow ... It would only take one circling dragon image that could be copied and placed as many times as you like. This is beyond my artistic abilities, so I understand if its beyond your. I also understand if you tell me to go screw my self, as this is yours and should be as you want it to be.

I LOVE the idea of having the dragons BE the letters, and I love the examples that were posted. My favorite dragon Font is : http://img11.deviantart.net/8d88/i/2007/168/e/3/serpent_dragon_alphabet_by_sabrieldragonkin.jpg because you can actually tell what the letters are (and it is colorful). Silver can have a rainbow of colors associated with it!!!! 2nd favorite font is: http://www.fonts101.com/previews/995/EG_Dragon_Caps_font_preview_60896_2.png We could go with just silver. What about a 2 sided shirt. One with the name spelled out and back side with a silver dragon? Just some ideas!!!!! DRAGONS RULE!!!!!!!!!
We probably shouldn't 'barrow' directly from something found on the internet. Would be best to be original art. Dragon letters just feel a little cartoony to me, but more then one way to skin a cat disgusted:what a screwed up saying). Also we've totally hijacked Fin's thread. We should post more on ideas that are out side of what he's doing in the other thread he linked.
Website. Guild as a whole. Merchandise that we can buy to keep this website running. or None of the above.
As far as the two saying that reminded them of a uterus.... Why couldn't remind others of or Sometimes you just need to accept something for what it is not what it could be.
Honestly anyone can see whatever they want in anything. For instance the lower half of Essiaga's dragons look similar to our male reproductive organs. That said, I really like the idea/design tweak making the dragons circling and curved in approach. Toss the OSD in the middle and WHAM done cash money! Regardless, I also thought the original was nice and didn't see a uterus until it was pointed out, and now can't UNSEE it omg! As a design professional (civil engineering) I will leave say it is ALWAYS easier to critique and/or revise than it is to initially design/create. Thanks for the effort Finley.
