Q. Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us, and do you currently have characters playing in game? If so what are their names? Which realm? Which platform? A. I recently started playing FF XIV. I just started a new character on the Diabalos world. I have a few others spread across different worlds, the highest being a 23 Marauder. Q. This is the getting to know you portion of the questionnaire. Please tell us a little about yourself. (Hobbies?Family? Pets? School? Work? Any super hero or super villain abilities, nefarious schemes we should know about?) A. I'm a 42 year old male working in the defense industry. I've been playing pen and paper RPGs since the mid 80's. I GM Pathfinder twice a week at my local comics shop. I started playing MMO's with the original Everquest and have since played EQ2, DDO and a very little bit of WoW. Q. Why do you want to join OSD? What is it you are looking for in a guild? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A. I am looking for an active structured guild that is open to all sorts of different playstyles. While I fully intend on raiding once I hit 50 I am in no rush to get there. I am a lore junkie and questaholic. I want to enjoy the story and the full game experience and if that means it takes me a little longer to reach end game I'm fine with it. I am still learning the basics of the game and would like to do so with a nice group of friendly guildies vs random pug's.Once I have some knowledge under my belt I will be more than happy to help any other new players along. Q - What lead you to our website and ultimately to filling out this application? (Which Friend? Website? In game ad? Psychic Magnetism?) A. I saw the OSD post by Doctorhoo on Lodestone. Q. What is your typical game play schedule like? Please include Times and Time zones. A. I am EST. I am available Tues thru Thurs during the week till about 10PM. Mondays and Fridays I run Pathfinder. Saturdays are really hit or miss and I'm usually available all day on Sundays. Q. What is the best game you have ever played and why? A. Oh man this is a hard one. I would have to say EQ2 up through the Kunark expac. It may not have had the best gameplay but the guild I was in more than made up for it. That was a great group of players. Q. What platforms do you usually game on? If not just a PC, which consoles? A. I have a PC and a PS3 but I only play MMO's on the PC. Q. Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played for? A. As stated earlier, I've been playing MMO's since Everquest. I jumped to EQ2 at launch and played pretty consistently up through Kunark. I played DDO for about a year and a half. I played about 2 days of WoW but just couldn't get into the art style. I tend to play either DPS casters or tanks. Q. What is your favorite part of a MMO and why? (Leveling, PvP, Raiding, Community, Roleplaying, Crafting, Achievements, Exploration, etc) A. I enjoy all aspects of MMO's except for PVP. I avoid that like the plague. I deal with enough cutthroat at work. Q. Are there any future MMO's or multiplayer games you're interested in playing? A. Not really. Q. OSD is more than just a guild in a single game. We are a community of gamers that come together through the forums and Teamspeak. Do you plan on being active on the forums and use TS? What are your thoughts on using event calendars on the forums to coordinate guild events? A. I know my play schedule is rather limited but I plan on being as active as I can when I do log in. I've used Ventrilo and Mumble in the past so I don't see having a problem with TS.I think event calendars and guild events in general are a great idea! One of the things that attracted me to OSD is it sounds like you all are a very active community which is one of the main things I'm looking for in a guild. Q. OSD has earned and prides itself on a reputation of respect, maturity and integrity. Please read the OSD CODE OF CONDUCT. If you violate any of these rules you jeopardize the reputation of our community and will face disciplinary action up to, and including, removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule? A. Yes Q. We will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time, you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and even the playing field a little. What are your thoughts on this topic? A. I have no problem helping out where needed. The one caveat being PVP. I have absolutely 0 desire to participate in that aspect of gaming. Q. Pretend you are raiding with the guild and after the final boss fight an uber fantastic, stupendous, ultra rare, sparkly item drops. Who do you think should receive this item and why? A. It should go to the character who can make the best use of it and benefit the whole raid force. For example, the tank should always have the best armor but he doesn't neccesarily need the best sword. That should go to the raid's main melee DPS. Q. Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams? A. Bacon is king! The One Ring to Rule Them All is really made of bacon not some shiny gold with weird writing on it. All shall kneel before the power of bacon!
Thank you for your Application. I'm terrible sorry to take so long getting to respond to this. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my worst days to get online because I get home so late. This really should have been responded to earlier by one of the officers in my division. Again, I'm terribly sorry. Just accepted both permissions. You should have full forum access now. If you have not got in the FC yet, try an ingame FC application and say you are on the OSD forums. Please check out the FFXIV Division of the forums, especially the post about for New Recruits that should be a pinned topic. Welcome to OSD! Doc
Welcome to OSD! We're almost gaming twins lol started my mmo's with eq...tried eq2 but couldn't break away from eq honestly. Played ddo for about the same amount of time and I had the some problem with wow. I tried it multiple times but couldn't get past the way it looked. Excited to run some dungeons with you!
Hey Doc, sorry I missed you. I'm usually in game Tuesday-Thursday 6:00-1000PM EST. Saturday evenings and any time on Sundays. I wasn't able to log in last night due to car issues. Left work to find I had a flat tire. And of course the spare donut was only inflated to half the recommended psi. By the time all was said and done I didn't get home till after 9PM. I'll apply to the FC next time I log in. Probably Saturday night.
Well it will be nice it meet you in game.. and i get how you feel about PVP... so not my thing either...
