Hello I am interested in joining your organization. Per your FAQ here is a synopsis of my information. Regarding Characters I will most likely have a couple of main ones. I enjoy trying different classes. Initially my first character will Tempus Evilbane I plan to try and lock in the name early. I know the first name is an established god of war in another fantasy setting and Evilbane isn't very original, but this is a name I have used for over 25 years and he has had a number of different incarnations. I starting him as a basic human fighter in a PnP DragonQuest game, he was a gnome Paladin/Ranger type in an early text based online RPG called Legends of Future Past and I played him as a unarmed warrior in Asheron's Call for close to five years. Currently I still use the name for a Sorc in a monthly PnP game. For DDO I think I will establish him as a Paladin or a Fighter to stay closer to the roots of the character and how I picture him in my mind. His backstory will follow in another note as I want to place his development in an appropriate area of Eberron, but I am sure it will have elements of rural life, border raids, truth, honor, and a quest to make his departed parents proud. A little about me. Raised in North Central Massachusetts started playng D&D in the scouts and found another RPG called DragonQuest when I joined the Explorers. Went to the same college as that famous author with the dual wielding drow and actually played at some of the same conventions he was know to frequent but as I mentioned I wasn't playing D&D at that time so our paths never crossed. After college my PnP RPG experiance expanded out to include Shadowrun and Champions. When D&D 3.0 debuted I got back into it and was an active member of RPGA for awhile playing in both the Living Jungle and Living Greyhawk settings. I have attended a number of cons including the very first GenCon Benelux in the Netherlands. Just hit the magic 40, have 4 children and a job with a major computer services company. I travel a lot so on any given day I could be in any timezone. When I am not traveling I work from home so I might be on at Lunch etc. Hope this is enough information to get the process started. Based on my time in the pre-order and stress tests I think being in a stable guild will greatly add to my enjoyment and allow me to make the most of the time I play. I like parties who think before they act and I am a strong advocate of learning about your character and what you should and shouldn't do before you get the rest of the party killed.
Welcome to our humble abode, and, hopefully, our ranks as well. May your association with us be mutually prosperous (and fun). It's great to hear from all the long-time gamers. It seems I may still be the oldest on here (42) but maybe I missed someone. Once again, be welcome.
Welcome to the boards. Sit back relax and enjoy the place while our fearless leader that can not kill anything(hehehe) looks over the application.
Tempus Evilbane's backstory Here is the backstory I promised. Tempus Evilbane was born in a small village on the rocky coast of Karrin Bay near the House of Orien controlled keep of Marazanath. At an early age Tempus took up weapons in defense of his village from raiding pirates and from the groups of undead which still plague the region due to their use in the Last War. During the Last War many of Tempus’ ancestors and those of the surrounding communities where forcible torn from their peaceful final rest and forced into the service of the evil overlords of Karrn’ath. Even today this is still considered a grave insult to the surviving descendants and many like Tempus have vowed to return the undead to their final rest. Keep Marazanath and the surrounding areas have had it share of turmoil both during the Last War and the years following and when he was old enough he assisted the Lord of Marazanath with his campaigns against the Emerald Claw, an organization of necromancers and powerful undead which extols the virtue of using the Blood of Vol. During the campaign Tempus witness many horrors caused by the Blood of Vol and it is what lead him initially to take up the banner of the Silver Flame and join in the crusade to rid the world of evil. Tempus’ involvement with the formal church of the Silver Flame was short lived as he quickly learned that a number of members of the church had ties to the Emerald Claw and dark ambitions. This type of corruption in an organization that was suppose to be a beacon of hope against the darkness was too much for Tempus to endure so fled the organization. Although no longer associated with the Silver Flame, Tempus still continues his mission to provide final rest to the undead and prevent others from being forced into unending slavery like his ancestors. (Note: For more information on The Silver Flame and The Order of the Emerald Claw see the Eberron Campaign Setting source book.
