IMO if Snoovus is as Festivus says then let him in or let just the GW2 people decide on this. Worst case scenario is if he/she ends up to be a complete arse it is not that hard to un guild someone. I for one say give them a chance
Personally, I think the application is just as important as how the player acts in-game. The application, IMO is a way to tell the guild, "Hey I want to join! " and it tells you what kind of person they are. From the (nearly) one word sentences in this application, I can tell from this that Snoovus didn't put much effort into the application, but probably just wants to get into the guild. If he really is a great person to chat with (I've been very active on the guild chat, but haven't seen him say anything yet) then we probably should still give him a chance. If it ends up, well..I'll let the officers decide.
I think the problem stems from two different views. Our application on our forums is for joining the OSD community as well as the games we're playing. Lately we've been getting people joining guilds and putting up apps after the fact. Some of these people don't seem to care about the OSD community, just playing the game. Personally I don't see why anyone would have a problem taking 10 min to be appreciative of the guild and fill out the application with some forethought. I also feel that the use of the forums helps with the success of the guild, but maybe that's old school thinking. My original reply to this application wasn't to turn down the application. I'm not an officer in GW2. It's was just a reflection of my thoughts on his lack of decent responses to some of the questions.
I must say Fest, I'm quite confused by your approach to this topic. Clearly you've been apart of OSD for quite some time, none of this is new to you. You know we have applications and that they need to be approved. While I understand that you have experience with the Snoovus that we don't, I have to ask why you're backlashing against this process that pretty much everyone agrees with rather than spending this time chatting with Snoovus and asking him to edit his app. I know it can be a bit of an awkward conversation "hey mate, saw your app. Since this is important to OSD as a community, would you mind fleshing it out a bit more so others outside the division can get to know you?" That seems a lot more constructive than what's been going on here. Just based on these responses, and the lack of any additional presence by the actual person this regards, it looks like we're attacking the player and that some folks are coming to his defense. This is absolutely not the case. We are critical of his application, not him as a person. That is a huge distinction that is worth reiterating. If he is indeed awesome, then that awesomeness should allow for a revision of this app. This whole thing could have been settled in 15 mins if someone were to just ask him of he'd be willing to do so. Anyone even know if he Has been asked?
