Q: What brought you to ourwebsite?

    A: The enthusiastic posting onhttp://www.guildwars2forum.com/

Q: This recruitment processrequires that we get to know you a little bit. Please tell us alittle about yourself.

A: I'm an older gamer, upper in the upper 20's. I've been playing games, mmo or otherwise, for about a decade or so. While I haven't actually done roleplaying in an mmo before, I've done it through forums and journals before, as well asin chat (fandom related, as well as original). When I'm not playing mmo's, I'm playing action/adventure-style games like Assassin's Creed, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect & Dragon Age, ectera. For that matter, my favorite game ever is The Witcher 2, and my second favorite is... everything Bioware, lol.

IRL, I'm almost 30, and currently between jobs. I need a real pick-me-up, as I suffer from depression, and this tends to suck me into the dark pit of despair where I get absolutely nothing done at all. In the past, rp as helped me through this, so I was thinking returning to it could be fun. I also love towrite, and make a pretty steady hobby of it. I've also done graphic design, web design, ect, and I'm willing to help the guild with bothof these skills if ever necessary.

Q: If possible, it would behelpful if you could tell us what Account Name you are using in-game,as many members on our site here have a different user name comparedto their account name. This will allow us to know it is you.

    A:cozzybob

Q: All members are expected to uphold respectfulconduct when communicating with other players and guildmates. Thisapplies to in-game situations, our website and on guild/GW2 relatedwebsites and message boards. Intolerance for others based uponreligion / sexuality / gender / ethnicity / etc. is not welcome. Weare a guild of HONOR and INTEGRITY, and we reflect that in all publicforums. The general rule of thumb is to treat people how you wouldlike to be treated in return. How do you feel about this?

A: Ilike it. I'm both a girl and bisexual, and I've... had problems withother guilds in the past because of one, the other, or both.

Q:In-Game Guild Status - Guild Wars 2 will allow characters to switchbetween multiple guilds as they wish while playing the game. The OSDDivision Leadership Council within the Guild Wars 2 game expect thatyou will focus your time and energy towards this guild alone and willkeep your characters as members of the OSD. Therefore it is anexpectation that you will be 'representing' the Order of the SilverDragons at all times while playing in-game as a member of thiscommunity. With that said, there might be a feasible reason why an‘alt’ character or an RP character should be in another guild.Special cases and requests will be handled on an individual basis. What are your thoughts on this?

A: I have friends on CrystalDesert, and more importantly, friends in other guilds on that server.I probably won't have need to go back there or ever represent, asthey're not very active anymore, but given the occasion, I may end updoing things with them. It shouldn't impact this guild any, and Iassume it's not entirely strict. That being said, I can see goodreason for the rule, and I'll respect it.

Q: Ventrilo is acommunications tool that allows our membership to experience the fulleffect of being in a community-based gaming guild. If you feel alonein game and you don't feel that much is going on, or felt thescheduled event experience was lacking or not working as intended...it might just be because you aren't using the communications toolsavailable to you.
VENTRILO use will be 'StronglyEncouraged' for all players to actively use while performingnormal game activities whenever you are playing in GW2. Even thoughit is not a requirement, it should be strongly considered for usageas a communications tool that allows our membership to experience thefull effect of being in a community-based gaming guild.
VENTRILOuse can, and no doubt will be 'Mandatory' during organizedguild events, such as Dynamic Content runs and meta-events/dungeons,WvW, sPvP, group or team meetings, as well as other types ofscheduled events if the event coordinator advises of such.
You don't have to speak if you don'twant to, so long as you are on to listen to other members that mightneed help or guidance. With that said, we have several dedicated Ventrooms that allow you to sit quietly in peace if you so wish. Allpublic discussion areas such as public vent channels are PG-13. Areyou okay with our Ventrilo policies?

A: I've used Teamspeakextensively in the past, never Ventrillo, although I assume it'ssimilar. Either way, I'm game.

Q: If you are accepted as amember of our guild, you will automatically be placed at our 'NewMember' position within the game. Please be mindful that this isnot a single-player RPG game, but a multi-wing online gamingcommunity. You will be expected to communicate, interact and supportyour fellow guildies, as well as ensure that you follow our Charterof Excellence at all times. In order to show your allegiance orloyalty to our community, we will ask that you perform certain'Community Quests' that give you the opportunity to communicate, interact and generally become a member of our community (don't worry, they are enjoyable tasks that allows you to get involved with ourplayer-base). Once these 'Guild Quests' are resolved, you will beraised one rank level in-game which allows you to access all thebenefits of our guild. Are you okay with this?

    A: That...actually sounds pretty fun.

Q: We have found that guildmembers have a better gaming experience if they use the forums andthe events calender. This allows you to get game information and joinguildies in events as your real life time permits. Do you intend onbeing active on our website forums and events calendar?

A: Asmuch as I can, given RL obligations, ect.

Q: Once you learnhow, we would like you to create events or RSVP for other scheduledevents as your real life schedule permits. What are your thoughts onthis?

A: I'm more of a follower than a leader, but I've donethat sort of thing in the past, so sure.

Q: Have you beenplaying MMO's for a while, or are you just getting started?

A:I've been playing MMO's for a while now, though not in the aspect ofjumping games. That is, I've only played two, not counting Runescape(which I don't, because I was very young at the time, lol): GW2, andDCU. Before GW2 came out, I played DCU steadily since the game wasreleased, which was two years ago now (I'm a HUGE DC fan). I've beenplaying GW2 since about a few weeks after release, also prettysteadily. Between the two MMO's, I've been in numerous guilds, invarious levels of membership. I have no problems leading orfollowing, although I do prefer to follow.

Q: What kind ofcharacter do you typically play? Tell us about your main characteryou envision, and please list any alts that you know you will bebringing into the guild as well.

A: Since this is the firsttime joining an RP guild, I'm a little nervous, but here goes.

Sabriel Locke, my main, ranger, 80,full exotics w/ some ascended gear. Vigil warmonger w/ “scoundrel”personality. Can be either support or damage role (I have full gear for both). Is now a human female (started as a male). I have various RP-related info as well, but that's probably a bit too lengthy to post here.

Rorey, elementalist, about level 40ish,is a male sylvari. I have no idea which direction I'll run, but most likely, he'll be support role. He's Whispers.

Q: What type ofplaystyle do you enjoy the most?

A: Casual PVE in particular, but I've done WVW as well. I'm not much for serious PVP.

In group play, I can do either support or damage, and have done both. I admit that I prefer support role as it is much hardier (and support is generally my favorite in holy trinity mmo's), but dealing damage is a lot of fun too, and I like to think I'm good at either. In other words, I guess it depends on the group I'm running with, and what needs to be done for balance.

Q:If you violate any rules defined within the gaming EULA, you willface disciplinary action up to and including removal from thiscommunity. Do you understand, and agree with this rule?

    A:Absolutely.

Q: What time of day do you typically play? Howoften?

A: It depends, but sporadically during the day, or steadily, for hours, at night--I'm a night owl, so that means all night.

Q: Are youaffiliated with any other guilds?

A: As I mentioned above, Iam, but it shouldn't impact anything major.

Q: How do youthink you can best help this community? How can this community besthelp you?

A: I'm generally very, very active when I play, and extremely inactive when I can't. In other words, I admit I'm a bit hot and cold, and this follows my life pattern. So that being said, when I'm around, I will offer any assistance in dungeons, ect, (most of which I've played and have experience with). I'm also proficient in writing, graphics design, and web design, so if any of that needs done and you need the help, I'm willing to assist.

Q: OSD isgenerally a "casual, do it all" guild, meaning we welcomeplayers from all playstyles and don't limit our focus to oneplaystyle in particular. We welcome PvPers, PvEers, Roleplayers,Crafters, etc. For example, while we may offer weekly raids, we arenot a hardcore raiding guild that requires you to raid 5 or 6 nightsa week. We also do not consider any one playstyle to be moreimportant than another, all members of OSD are equal. For example, ahardcore PvPer will never be considered "more valuable" tothe guild than a casual Roleplayer would be. Are you okay with this?Any additional thoughts on this topic?

    A: Nope, soundsperfect.

Q: With the previous question in mind...We will neverforce you to participate in any activity or event that falls outsideyour playstyle of choice. However, from time to time you may be askedto help the guild out if we are short a particular class, or justneed to fill up an empty group spot. Are you okay with this? Anyadditional thoughts on this topic?

A: That sounds fine too.I've always answered the call in past guilds (PVE, PVP or otherwise),so it's completely reasonable.

Q: We do ask that you stayactive on the guild website as much as possible. We don't expectanybody to become a forum junkie by any means. But we do expect ourmembers to cast their votes on any polls we put up, give input in anyposts we make asking for opinions, as well as chime in with yourthoughts when other members open discussions. What are your thoughtson this?

A: I like the idea of an active guild website, so I'll do my best.

Hi Cozzycob! That was a nice read :)
    Welcome to the Silver Gates!
Officers will come soon and review your application with you.

Everyone is free to choose to RP or not. (It's not a RP only guild), so don't feel pressured about this. If you like to RP though, we have members who like to RP too :)
I hope you will enjoy it with us.

Ah, sounds fun! Thanks for the warm welcome to both. :3

Actually, I really like the idea of RP. I haven't done it on years, and never on MMO's (before it was mostly fandom-related on different boards), but I'm game. I'm also up for casual random playing too, mostly just anything to entertain haha.

Hi there. Welcome to the guild! But please bear in mind that we have a policy that if you are a member of the OSD that you will 'represent' at all times. If we see you not representing, then an officer will approach you in-game about it.

We ask that all members absolutely review and abide by our CHARTER OF EXCELLENCE at all times, which is accessible by all non-members on our front-page. Please make sure that you completely read the Charter so that you don't have any issues later on.

Also, please take some time to review the following information for our new arrivals:

    NEW ARRIVAL INFORMATION

One of the aspects of the New Arrival Information has to do with the concept of our Vassal Rites of Passage (Community Quests). If you wish to have full access to our guild benefits, you would need to get involved with the community via these quests.

We expect that all members try to stay as active as possible in these forums so that the rest of the guildies get to know you better. Please feel free to take a look around, there is a vast wealth of information at our website. Please become active in our GW2 community by posting and getting involved with the other members here in the OSD.

Permissions are all done! You are now a member of the OSD. Please ask us any other questions you may have and we'll gladly answer them. Please get in touch with either Xanz or myself in-game for a guild invite. Alternatively send us a MAIL message in-game, or contact any of the other officers.

    Welcome! :)

    Zso

Excellent! Thanks so much. <3 And no worries about the representing, I understand. As for the Rites, I'm already excited about that and will see about starting them tonight. I think it's a fantastic idea for a guild. :D

@tabby, it was! I had a lot of fun!
