Q: What brought you to our website? A: Well I was looking for a guild to join for Guild Wars 2. A friend recommended looking on the Guild Wars 2 Guru website which is where i found the link to the OSD Guild website which is the one that took my eye the most. Q: This recruitment process requires that we get to know you a little bit. Please tell us a little about yourself. A: Well I am 20 years of age my real name is Scott and I live in the South of England (Essex). Just finished my 2nd year of university and will be entering my 3rd and final year in October 2013. I am studying Computing & Management at Loughborough University in England. Apart from gaming I have a keen interest in sports mainly football (soccer), photography and anything techy really. Q: All members are expected to uphold respectful conduct when communicating with other players and guildmates. This applies to in-game situations, our website and on guild/GW2 related websites and message boards. Intolerance for others based upon religion / sexuality / gender / ethnicity / etc. is not welcome. We are a guild of HONOR and INTEGRITY, and we reflect that in all public forums. The general rule of thumb is to treat people how you would like to be treated in return. How do you feel about this? A: I have no problem with this and agree fully. It is how I would conduct myself whether in a guild or not. Q: In-Game Guild Status - Guild Wars 2 will allow characters to switch between multiple guilds as they wish while playing the game. The OSD Division Leadership Council within the Guild Wars 2 game expect that you will focus your time and energy towards this guild alone and will keep your characters as members of the OSD. Therefore it is an expectation that you will be 'representing' the Order of the Silver Dragons at all times while playing in-game as a member of this community. With that said, there might be a feasible reason why an ‘alt’ character or an RP character should be in another guild. Special cases and requests will be handled on an individual basis. What are your thoughts on this? A: This is one of the reasons I want to be a part of a guild to have the belonging and loyalty to a particular guild in this case the OSD. Q: We have found that guild members have a better gaming experience if they use the forums and the events calender. This allows you to get game information and join guildies in events as your real life time permits. Do you intend on being active on our website forums and events calendar? A: Yes I fully intend to use the forums and events calendar. Q: Once you learn how, we would like you to create events or RSVP for other scheduled events as your real life schedule permits. What are your thoughts on this? A: I would be happy to create and RSVP events. Even when im not currently online would be open to guild members contacting me through other forms of communication. Q: Have you been playing MMO's for a while, or are you just getting started? A: I have been playing MMO's for a good few years now, maybe 3 years. I originally started playing Word of Warcraft which has been my main MMO of choice however i did try out DC Universe which I didnt enjoy that much. Now after pre-purchasing GW2 and playing in the beta it seems to be the MMO that will take up my time. Q: We expect all members to submit and update their characters in our Guild Wars 2 sub-forum 'Character Roster' (character name, class, level, possibly build, etc.). Are you okay with this? After reading the above content, why do you think it might be important? A: That wouldnt be a problem I spend a lot of time on a computer or in touch with technology. I think this is a good idea,, why do i think it is important. Well when someone wants to create a group to carry out an in game event then having that sort of info would be useful. I know GW2 said they dont want the DPS, Tank, Healer (holy trinity) but going into an event with 5 rangers and no other profession might not be the best approach. Q: What kind of character do you typically play? Tell us about your main character you envision, and please list any alts that you know you will be bringing into the guild as well. A: Generally in WoW, i played healers/ranged DPS. However after playing the GW2 beta i have taken a liking to the Guardian, which is what i believe will be my main character when the game is finally released. I may start an elementalist but would like to focus on the guardian as my main. Even though im a guy, in the last few MMO's i have played, i have played a female character , i am unsure of which i will play at the start of GW2, in the beta i have been playing a female Norn. I would like to have the username Onyxian in game, depending on availability may be a slight variation, if not then I just revert to Dawsy, as Daws is my surname. Q: What type of playstyle do you enjoy the most? A: I tend to favour a more supportive role, which again supports why i have chosen to play the guardian. Q: If you violate any rules defined within the gaming EULA, you will face disciplinary action up to and including removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule? A: I agree Q: We have a Ventrilo server available to our members. We strongly suggest that our members log into our Vent server whenever they are playing GW2. You don't have to speak if you don't want to, so long as you are on to listen to other members that might need help or guidance. With that said, we have several dedicated Vent rooms that allow you to sit quietly in peace if you so wish. All public discussion areas such as public vent channels are PG-13. Are you okay with this? A: Yeah i am perfectly fine with this. Q: What time of day do you typically play? How often? A: All different times, really depends on what my Uni timetable will be like, I could be free sometimes during the day or in the evening to the early hours of the morning. I also get fairly long holidays over xmas and Easter so im free a lot of the tie then as well. Q: Are you affiliated with any other guilds? A: Nope. Q: How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A:Well I will help out in any way that I can. Will be an active member and try to get involved in as much as possible. I guess what i could get from the community is just that, just being part of the community and playing alongside others to enjoy the game and share tips with each other to help each other improve. Q: OSD is generally a "casual, do it all" guild, meaning we welcome players from all playstyles and don't limit our focus to one playstyle in particular. We welcome PvPers, PvEers, Roleplayers, Crafters, etc. For example, while we may offer weekly raids, we are not a hardcore raiding guild that requires you to raid 5 or 6 nights a week. We also do not consider any one playstyle to be more important than another, all members of OSD are equal. For example, a hardcore PvPer will never be considered "more valuable" to the guild than a casual Roleplayer would be. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic? A: I am fine with this, i would consider myself a casual gamer. However I do enjoy Raids and group events but would not be raiding every night and so it seems this guild would fit in with how i want to approach the game. Q: With the previous question in mind...We will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short a particular class, or just need to fill up an empty group spot. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic? A: Yeah I would be happy to help out, Im always wiling to give things a go, would like to give everything a go. So id be happy to help out where i can. Q: We do ask that you stay active on the guild website as much as possible. We don't expect anybody to become a forum junkie by any means. But we do expect our members to cast their votes on any polls we put up, give input in any posts we make asking for opinions, as well as chime in with your thoughts when other members open discussions. What are your thoughts on this? A: If im accepted in to the guild then it would be in my own interest as well as the guilds to be active and speak my opinions so this is something I would want to do rather than it be something required of me. Q: What previous experience, if any, do you have with the original Guild Wars? A: I very briefly played the first Guild Wars game but not much at all as it was only recently I played it and at that time I wanted to wait for GW2 rather than invest my time into the first GW game which i felt may have been slightly counter productive.

Thanks Icharus, Im looking forward to getting started. I know there's a stress test for GW2 on Wednesday but unfortunately im going to miss it. When the game starts im hoping to have the name Onyxian but that depends if its taken or not. My brother Posted an application as well just now "OnyxTitan" hence the similar names lol.
I see! I was beginning to wonder; if it were anything else, then that would've been a pretty gnarly coincidence! So are you two excited for the London Olympics or has it caused some headache in your area? I take Essex isn't too far from everything taking place right?
Yeah well, I live right on the edge of Essex and London, The Olympic park is only about a 20 - 30 minute train ride away. So far it hasnt been too bad but im sure once the tourists and fans start turning up it will be a nightmare, will probably avoid heading into London when the Olympics starts. Where abouts are you located then, if you dont mind me asking?

One thing you still need to do to complete your membership: I need you to request the permission group for citizen. Top right of this page is the "settings" link. Hit that, then on the next page scroll down and on the left hand side is the "permission groups" link, click that. Then request the "citizen" permission group on the next page. I'll approve and you'll be all set to go. Don't forget to look at all the different things that our guild has to offer, believe me, it's a lot! Namely though, check THESE threads out; it directly relates to the GW2 branch of OSD.
