    Hello,
After perusing the guild listings for several days and pondering my choices I've decided to apply to your guild for membership. You have put alot of work into your site and to me that indicates a level of dedictation to your guild. That's great to see. You also espouse many qualities of the MMO experience that I value; camraderie, fun and casual game play.
I'm hoping if I'm accepted that this could be a long term home for me in this game and beyond.
My gaming experience is as follows.
EQ - I led my own guild for two years on the 7th Hammer server. Vanguard of Norrath was its name. I started it out as full RP and then after a year phased that out in an attempt to become more raid centered. Unable to make that transition I disbanded the guild and joined a high end guild for the next two years and became one of the top paladins on the server before boredom with nightly raids took hold. I quit the game and played no MMO for six months until WoW.
WoW - I have a 60 Tauren Shaman and a 60 Dwarven Hunter on Lothar.
While WoW has been convenient in one regard. (I can solo) The community in this game has been downright awful. No vitatlity, no conversation, board participation is non-existent. The game itself is fine.

I plan on creating a straight Elven Cleric for DDO named Adeon.
I must admit that I'm a bit concerned about the voicechat component of MMOs now. I had to leave two guilds in WoW because of it and my current one has begun to convert to it, which is killing the traditional typed chat.
My computer is in my living room so I can be near my wife while she does her work or watches TV. I play with the volume off so as to not be rude. I also have two young kids and I can't control what others are saying in voice chat with an obscenity filter. I'm hoping this does not become an issue for me.

As for myself personally, I'm 39, married with 2 young kids. I work in publishing and travel a fair amount. For my interests, I'm a rabid baseball fan, I read incessantly all manner of books, and I write and hope to be published one day when I finish this book I've been working on.

Feel free to ask me any questions and I hope to hear from you soon.

    Welcome,

Adeon, I know just what you mean about the chat. For years I played other games such as Anarchy Online, and Asheron's Call often playing them with my laptop while watching some show my wife wanted just so I could be near her and we could talk about little stuff. With DDO it is the first game that I have started to use voice chat and she is concerned by it.

Well lets hope we can find a way to balance it out. The guild doesn't require voicechat, but it does make it easier to communicate with DDO's active combat system.

So welcome to the gates, you have my support for membership.

Welcome Straight Elf! Though sexual preference does not matter.

Welcome to the Gates, have a seat and partake of some wine, beware though, the bartender tends to water it down some. Let us spin a tale of your travels.

You sound just right for this guild. I too am leary of the voicechat mechanism. I've always played with the sound off because there are 3 of us in my family. My teenage step-son thinks it is kind of cook when I put the headset on, but my husband isn't too keen on it. He only gets to hear one side of the conversation :)

But, I do intend to wear the headset when it's needed. I am also a full cleric... I like to be in the back, I help when I can, but I've played clerics in these games for so long, it's hard for me to really fight much. I'm pretty slow with the reflexes. :) (I'm not saying why!) :)

Welcome, friend. Make yourself at home.

Welcome! I know exactly what you mean about the people in WOW. The game is a lot of fun if you can avoid 80% of the people.

What type of people do you hope to find in your DDO guild?

Well met traveller! I myself was never crazy about voice chat and i tend to use it sparingly in ddo although it is useful for rogue types hehe typing "trap!!!" and shouting it are two different things hehe.

But i have a few questions after reading your application. Have you tried beta and how did you like it? And what time zone do you play in? :)

    Voice chat

I love voice chat! It's because mostly that I have to look at the keyboard to type...one letter at a time!

My current system doesn't have the space for DDO, I tried without success to get into the beta. My new rig is due to arrive in 7-10 days. I live in RI, so I'm in EST.

What type of people do you hope to find in your DDO guild?

Hopefully low-key types, light on the l33t speak and willing to chit chat about movies, sports and books once in awhile.

    Greetings!

You sound like an interesting fellow.. you've got my support for what it's worth, hehe.

Just out of curiosity, you don't have to answer if you don't want too but, what are you writing about in your book?

Hello and welcome to the gates. Many of us are older and/or more mature so we know when to behave. If someone was saying the wrong thing on voice chat i'm sure we could resolve any problems with it. I myself use a headset so my roomate doesn't hear what others are saying to me. Then again hes not into fantasy stuff and says i'm a dork for playing mmorpg's :) But wait he calls me a dork anyways.....oh well. Hope you find what you are looking for.

    Hello Adeon,

We wish to know more about you.

What type of guild are you interested in, when do you see your self in-game the most.

My ideal guild would be as follows. Casual to a degree but not lazy. Driven but not manic. Hopefully willing to group internally often. Mature...preferably populated with folks 25+ in age and light on the immaturity.
Talkative and hopefully NOT reliant on voicechat...I prefer typing.
Light roleplaying is fine but not my focus. Been there, done that. I see MEO as being my future outlet for RP.
Chatty...a quiet guild is pretty pointless to be in. When you log in for an hour and no one says a word despite a dozen people being on....that's bad.

As for "When" I see myself in-game the most...mon-thursday evenings are my most frequent playtime. EST. Weekends are sketchy but sundays you can find me on now and then depending on family commitments.
I also can pop in during the day on friday since I work from home.
In addition to that my travel schedule allows me to have a few weeks at home with alot of daytime play opportunities in april and december.

I am sure that some of us will branch out to the other games in the future and leave DDO but that sure does not mean that you have to leave order.

Adeon, I agree with Mizzat, a lot of us will be playing several different games I am sure. I think the point is that we want this to be a good, tight, community and know that we'll have someone to play with when we get online and we'll know we're well-supported and all.
