Oh and exciting news, one of our designers just finished up our GW2 division artwork, have a look-see! ^_^
I am sooo glad we finally know when the next beta will be. I can't wait to hopefully see of you in there!
The majority of us are on Darkhaven so far, and yourselves? Maybe we'll be allowed a free transfer again and can coordinate.
We're on Isle of Janthir; we've been very pleased with the server in WvW so far. I wasn't able to play much for the previous BWE, but I know we've already been making friends among the other guilds participating in WvW during the events.
Some of our members have raised concerns that Darkhaven is overcrowded, so I wanted to get your opinions on your own server of choice Isle of Janthir, how populated is it and whatnot. Personally I'd prefer a medium pop server than a high one. Especially when Darkhaven is almost consistently full.
during BWE1, the population wasn't too horrible in terms of affecting gameplay. we did share similar issues here and there with the overflow and occasional fps lags, but Anet has attempted to address that with everyone since then so we'll just have to see. personally, i liked the people we were running into. so far i've seen the guardians guild, [HoTb], and reddit/gw pretty all of whom were cool people.
Yes, I was in the over flow zones from time to time, but nothing that was game killing. Same with lag, not bad at all (for me). The server itself was pretty enjoyable all around. WvW was decent although I was only in it for the first day, but many have said it was great through out the whole weekend. We would love for you guys to come over to our home server. =)
Well was it consistently High or Medium, that's our main concern as a guild worth of people wouldn't be doing it any favors. X_x
Was there a way to tell for sure what our server pop was? Or would we have to guess based on how many of us realized that we had ended up in overflow areas (which was sometimes difficult to determine)? It sounds like they've made modifications so the client will be much better at telling us when we're not on our home server. That will help a lot in figuring out how well-populated the server really is. The fact that characters from BWE1 weren't wiped means that we'll be more spread out over different areas of the map than last time around, as the higher-level folks explore higher-level areas. Plus some people will be trying structured PvP, etc. Those things together will help significantly reduce the load on the home servers. Overall, I think ANet will have an easier time balancing the load on each server thanks to these factors, and I'll bet that that will result in fewer people getting shunted off to overflow servers than in BWE1. My opinion is that it will probably be best to see how things look once BWE2 starts, rather than making a decision now based on the last BWE. Edit to add: if one guild's worth of people is going to have a significant enough impact to imbalance the server population, ArenaNet is doing it wrong. The servers really ought to be able to handle thousands of people online at a time.
Well there was a Low/Medium/High/Full notice next to the Server Selection. And we don't want to spend any more time than we have to trying to move, as I'm not sure if you experimented with it last time but some of their free moves took a day or more to take effect. :< I'll talk things out with the Guild and we'll see what the decision is. ^_^
Oh, yikes! I didn't realize the moves took so long to take effect. >.< I don't think I paid attention to the Server Selection screen since I just picked the one that had been decided on for us for the BWE. I'd say give it a shot and join us! But you guys should do what you think is best for you as a whole. We will let you know how things look if you decide not to join us for this particular BWE.
Yeah the idea was you could still play while they were moving you (you would simply be logged out when the move took effect and have to log back in), so while convenient I'm sure it isn't the speediest way to go about things.
Your server was full, unfortuantly. We're headin' to a new server called "Divinity Coast". Just keepin' ya in the loop!
Thanks for the heads up. They ended up increasing the capacity for our server. Maybe at the next BWE we'll just transfer over to yours.
