Greetings and salutations from your newest friendly neighborhood guild and now alliance friends, comrades and loyal group known as Bedlam. I will be your host Tony who will introduce you to your newest friends. What I can promise all the members of OSD is this: Bedlam is aptly named for literally what it is, it does: Bedlam: A place or situation of chaotic uproar, and where confusion prevails. Well, while there isn’t any “chaos” inside Bedlam or will ever have any towards anyone on IoJ Server. Those servers who will face against us, will learn quickly that we are darn good at causing chaos throughout WvWvW. When Bedlam was created, it was created for one sole purpose “regarding” in WvWvW: To literally rip the guts out of our opposing servers ranks. While we have not and will never try or desire to attack a Keep or any such large fortification. We specialize in Towers, Supply Depots, Caravans and choke points. That’s it…nothing more. What I saw when I was looking at the guilds that would be on Isle of Janthir is: Who are the “biggest” kids on the block? The first one that I noticed was: OSD. The reality is in the WvWvW environment, where OSD goes…the masses WILL follow. If they see a massive or even a large group going towards “x” then they will join and run with you. What Bedlam’s job is, is a combination of: 1. Clearing the road for your group. 2. Taking Towers/Supply Camps while you are engaged/engaging in your epic battles, to totally throw the biggest darn wrench we can into the opposing server’s goals/plans. 3. Take/hold/fortify Supply depots, so that your supply does not run out. When in epic battles, if the defenders supply runs out…the Keep will fall. 4. Have squads at certain choke points, where the enemies reinforcements as they come running in…in a loose formation will be demoralized after running all that way just to get their legs chopped off right when they think they are about ready to help their comrades. I was joking with a few of Bedlam’s guild members a couple hours ago and one member said in jest: “ Ya know…we are the bad guys.” After I got done chuckling I replied: “Yeah, but ONLY to our enemies.” For IoJ on the other hand, we will be their attack dog, their ace in the hole and their loyal comrades. In the end, I consider/think of Bedlam as the Good guys on Isle of Janthir. Bedlam operates in a very unique fashion in that, we operate in a squad format and it is kept extremely simple and extremely coordinated. Without boring any of you in the details, I will do my best to coordinate with OSD what you are preparing to attack/are attacking. Then dispatch “x” amount of teams to best benefit OSD’s objective, so depending upon the circumstance you are in, there could be 1 team or 6 teams deployed within a very short period of time. I have a 100 Slot Vent, so that there never will be an issue of communication with any guilds to Bedlam. Also as a last minute update, I have “just today” sent PM’s to The Guardians as well, in that they are similar to OSD in that between the two of your guilds…you will most likely dictate IoJ’s success. My goal is to ensure that in every possible way, your guilds and IoJ can do the best that they can in WvWvW. Bedlam of course fully supports and is looking forward to PvE. “From an Ex-TOR player’s opinion” GW2 was initially ONLY looked at for the WvWvW aspect…until the first Beta, then I was amazed at how much fun the PvE is. So Bedlam is a PvE/WvWvW guild if I had to be more precise. Otay, short novel is over. Please feel free to chat/ask/inquire…or anything in the middle ya like. I am overly happy and proud to have OSD as an allied guild of Bedlam, I only see great things in store for the both of our guilds and I look forward to chatting with all of you soon…not to mention seeing/playing with you in-game. *crawls out from under Wall O' Text* Definitely not expecting THAT when I clicked this topic! Anyway, Hail Tony! Good to see another guild willing to join us in fighting the good fight. Every successful War Machine needs people to do the dirty work. Without the Bothan Spies, the Death Star wouldn't have been destroyed. Welcome aboard!
Thank you Dennisph, Sorry if I didn't make my initial post clear, I meant that I just PM'ed The Guardians today...to also join into the same alliance that OSD has with them as well. Triangle of Terror so to speak.
Oh gotcha well thats cool glad to have you aboard and look forward to playing with your guild as well
Thank you Szymaa, Not gonna lie I will fully admit, that I tend to over-type. I fully agree that gathering allies can only help fight the good fight for sure. Yeah, we are the "dirty" fighters that is for sure. Right now, I am confident in being able to deploy 6 teams by the time for sure by the time WvWvW is ready to go. My hope is that I can have 10 teams "active" at most times. The timezones for Bedlam "so far" are working out quite well, where there isn't a strong towards PST or EST. Pretty much, we are spread out nicely. So far, the "best" time we have for taking then rebuilding/fortifying a Tower is 5 minutes. So, start to finish...that is pretty darn good. I think after 30 days of Launch where character levels are higher and the cohesion is also higher, we should be able to pull a minute or so off of that. Speed is our strength, where we take it super fast, so reinforcements will arrive too late and only be surprised by what they are "running" into.
Hi Tony! Thanks for posting an introduction! To OSD! I've been in communication with Tony for a short while now. He and his guild, Bedlam, appear to be a great group of stand-up individuals much like ourselves. I'm excited that we'll be working with, and coordinating some of our WvWvW efforts with, them to increase the success of both our guilds in combat. Moving forward, please continue to welcome Bedlam members, and work with them if/when it is appropriate in WvWvW. I expect our guilds will grow into valuable allies. I'm glad to already see the welcomes in this thread. Keep them coming! Welcome Bedlam!
Welcome to our gates, Tony! Glad to make your acquaintance. We have many, many members just in our GW2 division that will be making WvW the main focus of their playtime, so I have no doubt that at any given time, we'll have a good amount of us on the battlefields. I can't tell you how stoked I am that Bedlam is a guild that focused on very specific things like these. I think a lot of times the supply camps, etc. get overlooked and people wonder why a siege is taking so long. Anyway, I won't do a wall of text, so thank you for dropping by and we'll be in touch soon.
Greetings and hail, Tony of Bedlam! I second Xanz' thoughts; it is going to be very exciting to see what many of our guilds can do when out in full force. I will be keeping a sharper eye out for the [BDLM] tag; again, welcome to the Silver Gates!
Greetings Bedlam! Good to hear from you. In all actuality, I was considering replying to your recruiting thread on the guildwars2forums.com and just saying it will be nice to play with a WvW centric group on our IoJ! I hope to see and play with your group often enough when I have the chance. Glad to have a group to depend on.
Thank you to all of you so very much. To Xanz, ya know that is literally what was the "concept" behind Bedlam, so in March/April when a few from a couple guilds started throwing the idea of creating a guild, then after the first Beta Event...that is what was what cemented the "concept" of doing...pretty much the exact opposite of most guilds. So, the focus of Bedlam was and is to be singularly focused on the WvWvW aspect. I am a realist in that having a guild of 100-250 by launch with only a couple of months to launch...just won't happen in this lifetime or another. Let the guilds with the member base and the experience in moving large units at once and coordinated do so. Beta Event 2 and 3, we refined our tactics with the same 5 people that started Bedlam and were able to get the tactics and the locations and such "locked in" Now, with the ability to throw half a dozen teams at launch...I won't lie, Bedlam is literally giddy with excitement on this. I am looking forward to a great relationship with OSD, I see a ton of fun for all of us.
Nice to meet you Tony, and hello to all of Bedlam. You seem like a fun group, glad you're on our side.
Thanks for your post Tony. According to the US Marine Corps (at least when I went through Boot Camp) there is no such thing as a "dirty" fighter. Line training was all about exploiting weaknesses in your opponents as quickly and efficiently as possible. If that meant a punch to the throat, fingers in the eyeballs, or grabbing sensitive parts of the anatomy then that is what you do. When you're always outnumbered or outgunned, there are just winners and losers. The winners will write the history and call themselves heroes. The losers will sit in a bar complaining how they would have won if you hadn't fought "dirty."
Heck yeah Frosty, you are completely right on that sir. In a WvWvW environment, all types of people, play-styles and whatever else comes in-between are needed to win. Better to have and know of the attack dog, then to just walk in and find one. Only a few days to go and I would be lyin' if I said that I wasn't giddy.
I finally got a chance to catch up a bit on the forums, and this thread really excites me about WvWvW. Looking forward to sharing the battlefied with Bedlam!
