Q: What brought you to our website? A: My best friend and roommate met someone in the FC. I've spoken to Y'walon Yue a couple of times now and she filled me in on how to join. Q: Do you plan to primarily Play FFXIV on a PS3 or PC? A: PC. Possibly PS4 in the future. Q: What's your In Game Character Name? A: Marcus Law. Q: This recruitment process requires that we get to know you a little bit. Please tell us a little about yourself and how old are you. A: I turn 26 in November. I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and FFXI was my favorite MMO. I've tried others like Guild Wars 2 and TERA, but I didn't play them for very long. FFXI was a brutal, unforgiving grind, but nothing ever came close to the same kind of atmosphere and experience in an MMO for me, until FFXIV was re-imagined. I never got to end-game in XI, but I played a lot. I really want to explore end-game, raids, and basically every kind of activity there is in FFXIV until my fingers bleed! Q: Have you been playing MMO's for a while or are you just getting started? If you have played other MMOs which ones have you played before? A: Guess I got ahead of myself with the last question, but I've tried even more MMOs than FFXI, GW2, and TERA. But I've never made any significant progress in any of them besides XI. Q: What kind of characters do you typically play or what roles are you attracted to the most? (Tanks, DPS, Healers) Tell us about your main character. A: I typically play melee characters or melee-mage hybrids, whether tank or DPS. Sometimes ranged DPS. Anything else I can't stand to play for too long. I prefer a light, fast, "bruiser" DPS role, but I also like tanking so long as it's not just a meat shield solely about mitigation. I got really tired of PLD in XI and how much it relied on parties to do anything. I was a pretty good PLD, but I burned out on it. Maybe that's just the nature of XI, though, because I'm enjoying Marauder. I would also like to level Pugilist. Q: Have you been affiliated with any other Free Companies (Guilds) on Diabolos? If so, which ones. A: Nope. Q: We have found that guild members have a better gaming experience if they use the forums. This allows you to get game information and join guildies in events as your real life time permits. Do you intend on being active on our website forums? A: Sure! Q: Once you learn how, we would like you to create events or RSVP for other scheduled events as your real life schedule permits. What are your thoughts on this? A: Works for me. It will give me something to do in my downtime at work, but I also like being able to just jump in on an event or help someone out whenever I happen to be on a little more spontaneously. Q: We expect all members to submit and update their characters in our website roster. Are you okay with this? After reading the above content, why do you think it might be important? A: Sure. I figure it's so someone else can see at a glance who might be able to assist them with a particular raid, see what roles are available. Q: If you violate any rules defined within the gaming EULA, you will face disciplinary action up to and including removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule? A: Well, I figure it won't matter much whether I agree to it or not as I'd just get kicked anyway. But yes. And I don't intend on breaking any rules I know about. Q: OSD uses Ventrillo. Our FFXIV Alliance also has access to a very large TeamSpeak Server. Are you familiar with these program? While it is not required that members be in vent/ts while in the game, it will be required when Raiding / End Game and encouraged for regular dungeons. You don't have to speak, just listen. Just having everyone interact will make the run more enjoyable. What are your feelings on this? A: I definitely think that facilitates better coordination. I'm fine with talking, except I'll have to avoid waking up my roommates at night. Which brings me to the next question... Q: What time of day do you typically play? How often? A: Right now, night. Late night. Really late night sometimes, like on the weekends. I work an evening/night shift, except lately I've been picking up hours in the day. I don't work weekends. I also often pull OT. This leaves my play time mostly after 2 AM CST on week nights, and all day after 1 PM or so on weekends. Q: We will be on the Diabolos Server. Does that match your Server Plans? A: It does now. Q: How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A: Well, I'd like to help people with whatever I can when I can. To tank or DPS a dungeon they need to get done, FATE grind, a Raise if I happen to be in the general area/region. I intend on leveling Miner to 50, maybe Botanist, so farming mats and selling cheap or even just handing them out to guildies. I'll also do some crafting, probably Blacksmith mostly, so repairs, gear, materia, etc. I think the only way I'll lack in providing a benefit is my schedule. As for helping me? A steady group to do content/raids that communicates, and just an expanded circle of people to chat and enjoy the game with. Q: OSD is generally a "casual, do it all" guild, meaning we welcome players from all playstyles and don't limit our focus to one playstyle in particular. We welcome PvPers, PvEers, Raiders, Roleplayers, Crafters, etc. For example, while we may offer weekly dungeon runs and/or raids, we are not a hardcore raiding guild that requires you to participate 5 or 6 nights a week. We also do not consider any one playstyle to be more important than another, all members of OSD are equal. For example, a hardcore PvPer or Raider will never be considered "more valuable" to the than a casual Roleplayer would be. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic? A: Sounds great! Just the kind of thing I've always looked for in a guild, first and foremost. I think I would consider myself semi-hardcore, and I dabble in RP. I'd like to do as much raiding and content as I possibly can, but I'm not going to freak out about it or drops or anything.
Applicant Looks pretty good and I like the details. Sometimes I just shake my head at the passion some of these FFXI players have, personally couldn't get past the terrible UI and the 12 clicks and sub menus to just equip a new hat, lol... I kid, I kid... Passion is a good thing and I certainly enjoy people that have some. Both Permissions have been approved and you now have full access to the forums - if you can just post your character name in the FFXIV forum under Roster when you get a chance, that would be great please and thank you. Welcome to the Order of the Silver Dragons! /tell myself or one of the officers in game for ingame invite. Invited in already. Alt: Ashe Maka
@Doctorhoo: Hahaha, yeah. You definitely need to be a serious masochist to enjoy FFXI. Maybe it's because for most of my MMO gaming career I didn't know better! At least FFXIV got so much right! I'll post in the roster thread now. @Nicola: Thank you very much!
