Q: What brought you to our website?
A: Stone-Age recommended this FC to me.

Q: Do you plan to primarily Play FFXIV on a PS3 or PC?
    A: PC

Q: What's your In Game Character Name?
    A: Felcom Algol

Q: This recruitment process requires that we get to know you a little bit. Please tell us a little about yourself and how old are you.
A: I'm a 29 year old Web Developer currently living in Orlando, FL with my Girlfriend and cat. Gaming and Programming are my two biggest passions in life (currently), I've been doing them both for quite some time now. Gaming has always been a great escape and means of "recharging" for me. My favorite games are those with depth, because most of all, I enjoy the learning/practice process involved with becoming successful at a game. I get bored when I think I've "beaten" a game, so I naturally gravitate towards games with deep strategy (RTS, some FPS, etc.) and/or those with continuing content releases (MMO). Programming provides a similar challenge in that there is always something new to learn or a better way to do something. Outside of these details, I'm a pretty easy-going person so if you'd like to know more ask away!

Q: Have you been playing MMO's for a while or are you just getting started? If you have played other MMOs which ones have you played before?
A: My first real MMO experience was FFXI which I really enjoyed. Then I did the WoW thing from Beta until right before Burning Crusade was released. I was in a pretty hardcore raiding guild on Shattered Hand (Relentless). I dedicated huge amounts of time to 40 man raiding where we cleared everything through classic Naxxramas. Ultimately though, the time required to raid 40 man dungeons just wasn't paying off, so I quit and divorced MMOs for a while. I did a brief stint with RIFT (great game, IMO), but at that time in my life work was busy so I didn't get too deep into it. FFXIV is the first MMO I've touched since then.

Q: What kind of characters do you typically play or what roles are you attracted to the most? (Tanks, DPS, Healers) Tell us about your main character.
A: My main character now is a Warrior, which being a tank, is a new experience for me. I haven't really pidgeon-holed myself in to one type of character over the years, but I tend to get the most enjoyment from classes with a higher position of responsibility. In the past this has meant healer/support types, but now with my Warrior in XIV, that means tanking/off-tanking, which so far, has been great fun.

Q: Have you been affiliated with any other Free Companies (Guilds) on Diabolos? If so, which ones.
A: Nope, I've actually been turning down FC invites until I was ready to apply here. I waited to apply because I wanted to be sure the server would be stable, and I also had to do some PC upgrades to get the game running perfectly.

Q: We have found that guild members have a better gaming experience if they use the forums. This allows you to get game information and join guildies in events as your real life time permits. Do you intend on being active on our website forums?
A: I do, yes. I generally won't even apply to a guild unless they have active forums. Outside of general discussion, forums are a great place to share strategy and other resources for guildmates and/or the general public to help them get things done easier.

Q: Once you learn how, we would like you to create events or RSVP for other scheduled events as your real life schedule permits. What are your thoughts on this?
A: Sure. The RSVP system is great for me being that I have a pretty steady work schedule. Systems like these are really just there to save everyone's time, so it's kind of silly to not use and stick to them.

Q: We expect all members to submit and update their characters in our website roster. Are you okay with this? After reading the above content, why do you think it might be important?
A: Yep. Having an accurate inventory of players supports the RSVP functionality because event creators can then coordinate with certain players they'll be needing for their event, based on their availability.

Q: If you violate any rules defined within the gaming EULA, you will face disciplinary action up to and including removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule?
A: Of course. I've never been one for utilizing exploits. Part of having a successful guild is not allowing Members to tarnish its reputation.

Q: OSD uses Ventrillo. Our FFXIV Alliance also has access to a very large TeamSpeak Server. Are you familiar with these program? While it is not required that members be in vent/ts while in the game, it will be required when Raiding / End Game and encouraged for regular dungeons. You don't have to speak, just listen. Just having everyone interact will make the run more enjoyable. What are your feelings on this?
A: It's been a while since I've used either due to being out of the MMO circuit for a while, but I'm excited to not have to type /p to explain encounters. Quick communication is pretty much required, especially in a tanking capacity. I'll be on and vocal.

Q: What time of day do you typically play? How often?
A: I have a 9am-6pm work schedule, so I'm generally on by 8pm weekdays if not a bit earlier, and will play until ~1am when possible. Weekends I generally go hard all day Saturday and maybe a couple hours on Sunday.

Q: We will be on the Diabolos Server. Does that match your Server Plans?
A: Yep, especially now that the servers are stable, I have no plans of switching.

Q: How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you?
A: Outside of gameplay, I can be a helpful resource with anything to do with the Website. I have helped set up guild websites in the past (now defunkt) so I can lend a helping hand if there are ever any issues. Otherwise, I just want to help others accomplish what they want to do in game and have the same done for me. Doing that is pretty simple to me, we just have to be available to help and ask help of each other confidently.

Q: OSD is generally a "casual, do it all" guild, meaning we welcome players from all playstyles and don't limit our focus to one playstyle in particular. We welcome PvPers, PvEers, Raiders, Roleplayers, Crafters, etc. For example, while we may offer weekly dungeon runs and/or raids, we are not a hardcore raiding guild that requires you to participate 5 or 6 nights a week. We also do not consider any one playstyle to be more important than another, all members of OSD are equal. For example, a hardcore PvPer or Raider will never be considered "more valuable" to the than a casual Roleplayer would be. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic?
A: This is ideal for me. I burned myself out with WoWs 40 man raids and from that learned that balance is important. Even while in-game sometimes I wanna just sit and craft and not push end-game content. I like knowing that a guild supports various play styles.
