Q: What brought you to our website?
A: I was googling around the web for possible guilds, and came across one of your recruitment postings on a gaming blog (ZAM maybe).

Q: Do you plan to primarily Play FFXIV on a PS3 or PC?
    A: PC

Q: What's your In Game Character Name?
    A: Althrisoix Deforest
I go by Althris in most games, but wanted a lore appropriate name (Wildwood Elezen).

Q: This recruitment process requires that we get to know you a little bit. Please tell us a little about yourself.
A: I'm 33 and live in Colorado. I'm married with a new baby girl on the way in less than a month. I enjoy hiking in our beautiful mountains, and recently have been taking more of an interest in nature photography. I also play golf, and read a lot of books. I mostly read fantasy and sci-fi, but just about any fiction with interesting characters and a great story. I work in an office about 50 hours a week, but try to keep work at work, and relax at home.

Q: Have you been playing MMO's for a while or are you just getting started? If you have played other MMOs which ones have you played before?
A: WoW was my first MMO experience, played for ~5 years. I stumbled onto it a few months before BC was released, and managed to hook up with a group of really great people. I got pretty serious about raiding through most of BC and WotLK, but then less so in Cataclysm, and quit the game altogether before Pandaria came out.
I've tried several of the major fantasy MMO's that have been released in the last decade. Warhammer for a few months, Rift briefly, Aion very briefly. They didn't hold my interest, mainly because I didn't join a strong community. I played Guild Wars 2 quite a bit upon release and into the winter last year, joining a solid guild a month before release. I thought it would be a perfect fit as a more casual MMO as my life was getting more hectic, but my interest waned after a while.

Q: What kind of characters do you typically play or what roles are you attracted to the most? (Tanks, DPS, Healers) Tell us about your main character.
A: I like hybrid characters, and I prefer playing a healer in a group. I enjoy both solo and group play. I like to follow the goup into a dungeon, and be a strong support player. In WoW my main was a Resto Druid for my entire career.
My FFXIV character is going to be a healer, aiming to get the White Mage job pretty quickly. I only got to play for the first time this past weekend in the Open Beta, and got Conjurer up to 15. I will most likely be leveling every class to some extent over time. Having every class on a single character is a big appeal to me of FFXIV.

Q: Have you chosen an Affiliation with a Grand Company yet? If so which one? (The Order of the Twin Adder - Gridania, The Maelstrom - Limsa Lominsa, or The Immortal Flames - Ul'dah)
    A: No.

Q: Are you affiliated with any other Linkshells or Free Companies?
    A: Nope.

Q: We have found that guild members have a better gaming experience if they use the forums. This allows you to get game information and join guildies in events as your real life time permits. Do you intend on being active on our website forums?
A: I think a solid guild is a huge part of fun MMO play, and a forum is an integral part of a guild. People's paths can sometimes rarely overlap in game, but on the forum they can get to know each other. You only get so much information about a person while playing a game, even if you group together, but a forum can offer you much more info about other interests, and deeper conversation. A strong forum is something I try to be a part of, and something I always look for in a guild.

Q: Once you learn how, we would like you to create events or RSVP for other scheduled events as your real life schedule permits. What are your thoughts on this?
A: I like to attend events, and if I say I'll be there I'll do everything I can to make it, but my life is fairly hectic. I probably won't be attempting to run events. I have a fairly stressful job that can occassionally have crazy weeks where I'm not very available. I also have a baby on the way, and I know that is going to make it very hard for me to commit to events ahead of time.

Q: We expect all members to submit and update their characters in our website roster. Are you okay with this? After reading the above content, why do you think it might be important?
A: Not something I've ever done before, but shouldn't be an issue once I figure it out. I think it could be helpful for organizing events, especially dungeon runs or raids where you need a particular group composition.

Q: If you violate any rules defined within the gaming EULA, you will face disciplinary action up to and including removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule?
    A: Absolutely.

Q: OSD uses Ventrillo. Are you familiar with the program? While it is not required that members be in vent while in the game, it will be required when Raiding / End Game and encouraged for regular dungeons. You don't have to speak, just listen. Just having everyone interact will make the run more enjoyable. What are your feelings on this?
A: I think Vent is great, I used it for several years in WoW, and in GW2. I've also used Mumble. I'm not a very talkative person, especially in a new group, but I will as I get to know evryone better.

Q: What time of day do you typically play? How often?
A: Evening from 7-9pm MST (9-11pm EST), and on weekends throughout the day. I'm not sure how frequent my game time is going to be yet. Probably 3-4 times per week on average.

Q: We will be on the Diabolos Server. Does that match your Server Plans?
A: I found your community last week, and I joined Diabolos this past weekend knowing it would be your home. Now that I've actually tried the game and enjoyed it, I decided to apply to start the game off right with a group.

Q: How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you?
A: I can be a frequent voice on the forum, and happy to heal dungeon runs when I'm available. I'm also hoping to spend quite a bit of time crafting in FFXIV, and am happy to make things for others.
I'm hoping that this will be a solid community that will make FFXIV fun both in game and out. Ideally I want to get involved with raiding as well, if I can make my schedule fit it.

Q: OSD is generally a "casual, do it all" guild, meaning we welcome players from all playstyles and don't limit our focus to one playstyle in particular. We welcome PvPers, PvEers, Raiders, Roleplayers, Crafters, etc. For example, while we may offer weekly dungeon runs and/or raids, we are not a hardcore raiding guild that requires you to participate 5 or 6 nights a week. We also do not consider any one playstyle to be more important than another, all members of OSD are equal. For example, a hardcore PvPer or Raider will never be considered "more valuable" to the than a casual Roleplayer would be. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic?
A: I'm at a stage of my life where "hardcore" play of any kind is not possible, so this sounds great to me. I like to play MMO's in a variety of ways, and this attitude was something I was looking for in a guild.
