Q. Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us, and do you currently have characters playing in game? If so what are their names? Which realm? Which platform? A. Final Fantasy 14. Marceline Hellebore on Diabolos. PC Q. This is the getting to know you portion of the questionnaire. Please tell us a little about yourself. (Hobbies?Family? Pets? School? Work? Any super hero or super villain abilities, nefarious schemes we should know about?) A. Hey all, Nick here. I've been gaming for years on all sorts of platforms, NES/SNES emulators, sega genesis, nintendo 64, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, etc. First favorite game that introduced me to the Final Fantasy series was FF7. I remember playing it so much I had a master materia of each type for each character haha. I've eventually made it a point to beat or at least try every final fantasy since then. I tried FF11 back in the day, but was annoyed that I had to re-buy it every time I quit and restarted. I started playing FF14 a little bit ago as my friend Rhadamanth Nemes (would also is applying) convinced me to play another mmo. I've played tons of MMOs over the years and have probably forgotten more than some have played. I did play WOW for a bit and raided quite often in college. My main character was a mage until I discovered I liked raid healing and have healed every raid before I quit during Wrath of Lich king expansion. Arthas got off easy =P. Outside of gaming I am a registered nurse with a bachelors in Biology and Bachelors in Nursing. I work...a lot, mostly because I'm single and have nothing better to do. Don't have pets, but I eventually want one again. I grew up with tons of pets from birds, fish, turtles, snakes, 14 billy goats, and a pony haha. As far as other super geeky stuff, I've been playing DnD for years with my friend Rhadamanth Nemes, and actually starting DMing for real for the first time the other weekend. I like cooking and learning about new a tasty liquors (bourbon most recently). I read a lot and am also a musician (saxophone). I listen to all types of music from jazz/blues/classical to classic rock, and from there to heavy metal/dubstep/etc. Q. Why do you want to join OSD? What is it you are looking for in a guild? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A. I want to join, mostly because I trust Rhadamanth neme's opinion that you guys seem like a group of people who just want to have fun together without needing to babysit people's egos. I've had to deal with annoying showboats in past mmos before so I can appreciate the more mature aspect to the guild. I definitely like the helpful aspect of your guild and will look forward to person raiding etc. with you in the future! The community can help me with advice, etc. and just giving me ideas on how to enjoy the game. Q - What led you to our website and ultimately to filling out this application? (Which friend? Website? In game ad? Psychic magnetism?) A. Rhadamanth Nemes as stated above. Q. What is your typical game play schedule like? Please include times and time zones. A. I'm on the east coast. My work schedule is weird as my shift can be 9-5, or 11:30-8pm. Sometimes I work on call from 8pm to 8am in additional to my 40 hour work week. When I'm on call I need to drop what I'm doing and respond within 15 minutes, but I do work remotely from home for this and can probably finish up quickly enough. I usually work monday nights on call, and every other weekend I cover weekends. At this time I can be playing video games until I get a call. It depends, but I can probably play video games for a couple hours each night, or more if I go into work for the later shift. I usually get done work at 5pm and after eating play until 12am or 1am unless I'm doing something else. Q. What is the best game you have ever played and why? A. It really depends on the genre, but I usually go back to Final Fantasy 7 for the whole nostalgia, "everything is perfect as a kid" kind of reasoning. It introduced me to RPGs and opened up my mind to trying different artistic mediums. Nobuo Uematsu made me love music and I have been playing/humming/trying to sing it for years. FF7 may not be deemed the perfect story, but it did make me become thirsty for games that prioritized story over dumb explosions and graphics; it also got me into reading as a kid due to looking for games with good stories and then just picking up a book to not have to sit through crappy cmvs for the story lol. Q. What platforms do you usually game on? If not just a PC, which consoles? A. Usually PC these days, but I do have a ps3 that I barely touch and I haven't found a reason to buy a ps4 yet. PC master race? Q. Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played for? A. I've played more MMOs than I can remember. Runescape briefly, Ragnarok Online, Silkroad Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, FFIX briefly, Granado Espada briefly, WOW, Aion, Rift. The ones I've played the most were Ragnarok as a kid, Silkroad in college for a year or two, and Wow probably for a good 5-6 years. I mentioned WOW raiding experience before. (I'm pretty good if I may say so myself). Q. What is your favorite part of an MMO and why? (Leveling, PvP, raiding, community, roleplaying, crafting, achievements, exploration, etc) A. I usually like leveling and raiding as long as it isn't too grindy. So far I'm enjoying that FF14 has decently non-boring quests and have incorporated the Fate idea from Rift. I enjoy crafting as well as it lets you zone out a little while still talking with people online. Q. Are there any future MMO's or multiplayer games you're interested in playing? A. Sure, if they are good. Nothing comes to mind at the moment. I was hesistant to try FF14 because of how much I played WoW. I didn't really want to organize my life around a raid schedule anymore lol. I'll still raid as much as possible, but I'm not changing my life to do it. Q. OSD is more than just a guild in a single game. We are a community of gamers that come together through the forums and Teamspeak. Do you plan on being active on the forums and use TS? What are your thoughts on using event calendars on the forums to coordinate guild events? A. Sure. I'm fine with that. I've used forums / teamspeak for guilds in the past. The Calendar I'll check if need be, but I'll probably just be online and hear people talking about stuff. Q. OSD has earned and prides itself on a reputation of respect, maturity and integrity. Please read the OSD CODE OF CONDUCT. If you violate any of these rules you jeopardize the reputation of our community and will face disciplinary action up to, and including, removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule? A. Yes Q. We will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time, you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and even the playing field a little. What are your thoughts on this topic? A. That's fine. It'll probably help me discover stuff about that game that I didn't know existed. Q. Pretend you are raiding with the guild and after the final boss fight an uber fantastic, stupendous, ultra rare, sparkly item drops. Who do you think should receive this item and why? A. Depends on loot rules. If everyone agrees to gear up the tank so we can kill the boss easier later...then the tank. If we are doing need/greed then who ever rolls higher lol. I've also had the whole point bidding thing in WOW in the past where if you really want an item, you bid a lot of points. This basically means if you dump all your points, it's going to be a LONG time before you win stuff again. OFC, if it makes no sense for you to get an item...get over it until people who need it, have it. Q. Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams? A. Bacon is only "awesome" to people without the imagination or vocabulary to describe their true passion for the most Princely of Porcine delights that is Bacon. By the way, if you haven't discovered cooking on a cast iron pan.....it makes bacon....perfectly.
Thank you for your application and again sorry for the slow response in processing things. Could have sworn you were quoting something from Cooking Wars when you were describing Bacon...lol. Great job. I just approved both permissions so you should now have full forum access so feel free to browse around, especially the FFXIV section when you get a chance. We will be having our FC Meeting next week followed by a Hide and Go seek event and you both are more than welcome to join us, Prizes too! I'd like to welcome you officially to OSD! Didn't see you in the FC yet, so if you could do the in game application that would be grand - we have a post in the FFXIV section called New Recruits read this should give you some key info and our FC house location, which I encourage loitering around while they run across the street to get their latest Pokemon Go critter. lol. Just do the in game application and we can get you in. Look forward to you both joining us in game. Doc
