I searched the forums for guilds that were recruiting and matched my play style. - This recruitment process requires that we get to know you a little bit. Tell us about yourself. I direct and teach comedy improvisation at ACME Comedy Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. I've been an actor all my adult life, and love my job. I play online games for fun, adventure, and socializing. - Which online game interests you? (AoC or DDO) We expect all of our AoC players to use Ventrilo while they are in game. Is this ok with you? AoC. I stopped playing DDO a while ago, and I *love* using Ventrilo. - Do you intend on being active on our website forums and Events Calendar? Sure thing! - Once you learn how, we want you ro create events or RSVP other scheduled events as our RL schedule permits. What are your thoughts on this? I love grouping with people, so I'm A-okay with this. - Have you been playing MMO's for a while or are you just getting started? I have been playing MMOs since the early 90s, having started with Meridian 59, followed by Ultima Online. Other games include Anarchy Online, DDO, City of Heroes, and several others I'm sure I forgot. - Do you feel comfortable with the website and it's resources? It's pretty straight forward and easy to navigate. - We expect all players to submit and update their characters in our website ROSTER. Are you ok with this? Sure thing! I'm anal retentive like that anyway. I think it's fun. - What kind of character do you typically play? Tell us about your main character? I usually play archers, and I'm an expert and running backwards while shooting my enemies. This time around, though, I went with a DPS assassin, and boy does it take a completely different skills set. I'm having a great time! - If you violate ANY rules defined within the gaming EULA you will be removed from this community. You ok with this? Understood. - What time of day do you typically play? How often? I play at several times during the day and night. I have an open schedule. - Are you affiliated with any other guilds? Not currently. - How do you think you can best help this community? I'm friendly, mature, and love to interact with people. By building camaraderie, that's half the battle. - Which of the characters listed in your forum signature (see STEP 3) do you play the most? Currently, I only have the one character, Erotico. - We are an Argonnessen Server guild within Dungeons and Dragons Online. Do you play on this server? For Age of Conan we play on the Cimmeria server. Do you play on this server? I play on Cimmeria for AoC. I stopped playing DDO a while ago. Let the community chime in at this point. Since you are still around the Tortage area perhaps it will be on Altace (my Alt). If so, we can do some quests together.
This is my one of my 2 biggest priorities right now... Just because I too am anal...lol I'm looking for a double confirmation on this note... Our events calendar is something I am coaching our existing members to take advantage of... as new blood comes in I want them already on the band wagon!! hehe It's a place for you to RSVP events you might be able to attend... and a place for you to post events for quests you might need a hand in yourself. You ok with this? Can i count on you? My other priority is recruitment... Can you do us a service by swinging by our recruitment thread at the Funcom site and let people know what your initial impression was of our site and our process here. =) Appreciate the support...
Hmm... Seems like my application is predicated on me reiterating again my promise to use the calendar system and posting presumably positive feedback on the OSD recruitment thread on the guild forums. Like I mentioned earlier, I enjoy hooking up with players and doing group events, so the calendar is a no-brainer for me. Of course I'll use it. As for the requirement that I leave public feedback about my first impressions of OSD, it makes me uncomfortable to be honest. This 'requirement' was added after I applied, and it gives the implied impression that I won't be accepted unless I praise OSD. I'm not a big fan of quid pro quo arrangements, so I am respectfully declining to do this task. If I am accepted, I'll be more than happy to help recruit, but I won't do so as a prerequisite to joining. (And I don't recall reading a single other application where this was asked of others.) I'm a real fun guy, a great roleplayer, and a loyal guildmate. I hope to be a member of OSD, but if I am rejected for declining to post feedback about the guild before I am accepted, then it is probably best I don't join. Here's hoping to a happy ending!
Unbeknownst to you (no way you could have known), our members have asked us to be a little more watchful at our Silver Gates... So, in response to the community, that's what you're seeing here... just a little more watchfulness (is watchfulness a word? *shrugs* no matter) We're an easy going group here... We don't ask much of folks... When people come in, we're kinda hoping they become lifers...hehe That said, I at no point suggested you provide us "praise." I asked you to provide perspective on your first impression... My motive? To keep our recruitment thread alive and well with content that might (or might not) be meaningful for another person like you that hapens upon our thread.... That thread seems to be working considering it's how ya found your way here. We all have different views on things... granted... but the response seemed a little too intense for me... Simple request... Dunno, maybe it was misinterpreted. I'll let you let us know before drawing any conclusions. I apologize if I offended... That was never my intentions.
I wasn't offended in the slightest. It just felt weird being the only one asked to publicly post something about the guild before I even joined. I can't imagine anyone being invited to join if they posted unflattering first impressions about the guild -- hence my feeling that praise was something that was expected in order to be accepted. A rather reasonable conclusion I think. Sorry that you took it as "intense." I guess that's the nature of the text medium. Anyhoo, if you'd still like me to publicly post my first impressions about the guild to bump that thread to the top, I shall do so.
Hello Erotico! I think ya caught Sook before his coffee.... Left-coast liberals really need their coffee before they can be made sense of... Here's what I think he meant and we all look for in a potential guildie. I'm a list kinda guy so I'll number it to keep my un-coffee'd head straight (more of a Drambuie head right now): 1) Someone who says howdy when they come on in-game or in-vent. 2) Posts interesting and sometimes simple questions on the site 3) Participates in guild events and soemtimes makes them for a specific quest they need 4) Promotes the guild on the Funcom site 5) Promotes the guild when grouping with un-guilded PUGS 6) Blames Warnacron for all the evil in the world 7) Drinks Vra's Beer 8) Congradulates Guildies on acheivemnts and helps them out when in need OK, 6 and 7 are a given after you've been here a while but the rest are things we all do in-game and on-site. Cool wit dat?
