Q 1: Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us? A: Final Fantasy XIV. Q 2: Do you currently have characters playing in game? If so, What is the name of your in game character and what server are they on? A: Yes, I have a Mi'Qote named Binx En'boots. Highest level class is 41 Bard, but I've dabbled in a few other combat classes. I have not yet dug too far into the crafting in FF XIV. Q 3: Guilds can serve many roles, and as with most things, expectations matter. In order to get a better feel for whether this is a good fit, we would like to know what you look for in a guild. A: As a father that works full time, my game time is limited and I tend to take my time while leveling up in a new (to me) game. I played FF XIV a bit last year, and I decided to return recently. I would love to play with others who understand that my time in game can be limited. Q 4: When and How often do you usually play? This is so we know when to look for you in game and get you in the Guild. (Please add your time zone in the answer) A: I live in the Pacific North West of the US. Most of my play time is at night when the kids have gone to sleep. Generally I wouldn’t be able to log in much before 8:30 PM. I can play a little more during the afternoon on the occasional weekend. Q 5: Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played them? Please share one of your favorite memories in a MMO you have played. A: I've been playing MMORPG's since EQ1 first came out in 1999. The longest I've played a single MMO was for about 3 years with the occasional month long break here and there. If you count some decently long breaks between sessions, it would be WOW as the most played and EQ1 a close second. Also, I’ve played more MMO’s that I care to list here. They span everything from your general PVE style MMO, such as FF XIV, to more “hardcore” PVP MMO’s such as EVE Online. As for my most favorite memory, it would have to be the first time I ran a dungeon with what would become my future wife. Little did I know that late evening that a budding friendship would turn into marriage 5 years down the road. My wife does not play MMO's any longer, she has focused her hobby time elsewhere. However, I have a hard time letting go of a pastime that has lasted so long. Q 6: What is the best game you have ever played and why? A: For multiplayer games, I'd have to say EQ1. The sense of adventure and dependency on your group, often made entirely of strangers. The scope of exploration for its time was amazing and blew me away. I'll never forget the years I poured into that game trying to master the mechanics that now seem archaic. Q 7: Are there any upcoming games you're interested in playing? A: Whatever looks fun that I can get a deal on during the Steam sale coming up. Question Category - Community OSD is a group of folks that has gamed together for more than ten years, many of us consider this group as extended family. The following questions help us to understand who YOU are as a person, not just a gamer. As we are more than just a gaming community we like to get to know a little about the folks that want to be part of it. Q 8: OSD advertises on various gaming websites, Facebook, Twitter, and in the games that we are playing. The following questions will help us know what formats are working and where we can improve. Who or What brought you to our Gates? A: DoctorHoo has advertised your group for quite some time on MMORPG.com. I just so happened to have a character on the same server. I thought it would be worth a shot to investigate and see if I may be a good fit for your core group. Q 9: There are many ways to engage and get the full guild experience with OSD. How often do you see yourself using the Forums / Discord rather than in-game to interact with the community? A: I'll be up front and admit that I'm not a huge fan of VOIP services as the main form of communication in game. It breaks my immersion more than anything else, and I'm old school when it comes to preferring text chat in MMO's. That doesn't mean I won't use VOIP services at all, I completely understand they make life much easier for hard mode dungeon runs, raids, specific events, etc... If your community heavily depends on Discord for communication, I can understand and it would be mutual that maybe I wouldn't be a good fit for your community. If you have folks somewhat like me that prefer typing over using a mic and headphones every day, I would be extremely happy. =) The use of a dedicated forum, on the other hand, I happen to be a big fan of. I think it’s great when a community actively uses a forum. Q 10: Please tell us a little about yourself. No need to be too explicit. We don’t need your home address or shoe size. Let us know about your hobbies if you have them. Do you have family? Pets? Work? Do you plan to conquer the world by using Lucky Rabbit’s feet or some other crazy idea? (This is probably one of the biggest questions on this application as it lets you tell us about you.) A: As I already mentioned, I’m a father who works full time. I also commute to work on a bicycle and I love nature bicycle rides when I can drag the family out with me. Last, I’m heavily involved with computers and electronic gadgets. I follow tech blogs, forums, etc… for the latest and greatest rumors or tech specs on new hardware. One of my favorite haunts for tech related information is [H]ard|OCP and [H]ard|Forum. Q 11: Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams? A: A delicious bacon on a maple bar haunts me every night!

Glad to have you interest with us for FFXIV. A lot of us are excited about the Expansion News but bummed that its Summer of 2017. Despite that we keep things busy and help each other out with Wondrous Tails clears and odds and ends. We were planning for a December FC Meeting in which we all get into Discord and meet at the FC House basement then do some activity afterwards. We have a poll up voting on the after event.
