Q. Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us, and do you currently have characters playing in game? If so what are their names? Which realm? Which platform? A. I am interested in joining FFXIV. I just bought the game Friday, and after many many many hours of clicking refresh, Diabolos finally revealed its mysteries to me and I made a character. My character name is Sia Werakh, and I am currently level 5. I play on the PC. Q. This is the getting to know you portion of the questionnaire. Please tell us a little about yourself. (Hobbies?Family? Pets? School? Work? Any super hero or super villain abilities, nefarious schemes we should know about?) A. I am a crazy cat lady who makes things out of string! My villainous powers are: tripping over own feet, entangling yarn attack, and conjure item (limitation, string based). I have 3 cats, 1 husband, and an ever-growing supply of books. I love gaming, both tabletop and video gaming, and have been a gamer since the early 80s. Here is a sample of both my mighty string powers and my gaming (he is a dice bag!): Q. Why do you want to join OSD? What is it you are looking for in a guild? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A. I want to join OSD because I have found a game is only as fun as the people around you. I've spent the past few days while waiting for the server to unlock reading over various guild recruitment posts, and OSD's appealed to me the most. I'm looking for a fun, friendly guild with whom I can kick back and enjoy the game. Q - What led you to our website and ultimately to filling out this application? (Which friend? Website? In game ad? Psychic magnetism?) A. I became aware of OSD due to Doctorhoo's post on the official forum. Q. What is your typical game play schedule like? Please include times and time zones. A. I don't have a typical play schedule other than "I play a lot." I work from home so I log in whenever I have free moments, often multitask gaming, and so can be found anywhere from the wee hours of the morning to afternoon to evening. I am central time. Q. What is the best game you have ever played and why? A. This is an unanswerable question. I simply love games. My best game ever does not exist, because every design choice has both positive and negative results. For example, one would think that you could turn Morrowind into the best game ever, because of mods. But I spend as much time adding, creating and tweaking mods as I do playing the game itself - and the process of refining and modding never ends. But even if I did manage to be completely fully satisfied - it's not multiplayer, so could never manage it. Q. What platforms do you usually game on? If not just a PC, which consoles? A. I am a PC girl. Q. Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played for? A. If I were to list every game I've played, I'd be sitting here until next year. The games that jump to mind quickly are: EQ, EQ2, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, City of Heroes/Villains, SWTOR, ESO, DCUO, RIFT, Black Desert, The Secret World, Warframe, Defiance, Firefall, Age of Conan, Darkfall, Xsyon. That should be enough to give an idea of the breadth of my experience, yes? There are many, many more. I have no idea how long I've played each for as I've played too many to keep track, I sub for 6 months recurring, and keep the subs going until one day I realize I haven't logged in for several months. Q. What is your favorite part of an MMO and why? (Leveling, PvP, raiding, community, roleplaying, crafting, achievements, exploration, etc) A. Community, hands down. Even if I were to find the best MMO ever, it'd fail to keep my interest if the community was terrible. And likewise a great group of friends around me will keep the most boring game fun. Q. Are there any future MMO's or multiplayer games you're interested in playing? A. Nope. Just bought FFXIV. Q. OSD is more than just a guild in a single game. We are a community of gamers that come together through the forums and Teamspeak. Do you plan on being active on the forums and use TS? What are your thoughts on using event calendars on the forums to coordinate guild events? A. This is a tough question ... I have a visual problem, and reading white text on black background is very difficult for me, so these forums aren't a place where I can be for long. I had to have my husband read the directions and copy and paste the questions for me. But I tend to prefer to do my socializing in game and in voice chat. I'm not good at keeping track of forums. I like Discord for this reason, all in one place. But I do have teamspeak as well. Q. OSD has earned and prides itself on a reputation of respect, maturity and integrity. Please read the OSD CODE OF CONDUCT. If you violate any of these rules you jeopardize the reputation of our community and will face disciplinary action up to, and including, removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule? A. I agree. Q. We will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time, you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and even the playing field a little. What are your thoughts on this topic? A. Sounds fine. Hard to be a part of a community if you don't join in. Q. Pretend you are raiding with the guild and after the final boss fight an uber fantastic, stupendous, ultra rare, sparkly item drops. Who do you think should receive this item and why? A. I'm not very item motivated so I tend to just assume that whoever needs an item the most for the character they are currently playing should have it. Unless it's a raid put together to get that specific item for a particular player, then obviously they should have it. Q. Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams? A. I dream of marzipan and madeleines.
Great app! Love the bookshelf and it's residents! I've accepted your permissions, so you're good to go on the site. Welcome to OSD! If the white text with the black background bothers your eyes, you can change the theme to better suite your needs. Just go to the top right of your screen and click settings. From there look on the left menu a bit down and click general settings. Scroll down until you see the drop down menu for changing the theme. The default is OSD Black Default. Hope that helps, again welcome! Also, I had to look up what marzipan and madeleines were. Both can be injected with bacon goodness...maybe. They both seem dee-lish solo.
Ahh blessed white. Thanks very much. I've gone through a thousand and one tests, but the doctors have never been able to figure out what causes my problems. How do I go about joining OSD in game? Or is that answered somewhere I missed as I was struggling my way through the directions? And thank you. I am very fond of my string creations. I make some with tophats and monocles too.
Welcome to the guild. I'm on of the ffxiv officers to get in you can look for one of our members, click on the options, view company profile and click submit applications. Or way number two is do a player search for Caer Sing, Katya Threadbare, Flash Reaper, Doctor Hoo or Tanis and anyone of us can invite you in. Or option 3 I'll search for you when I get out of work and invite you myself. Also we have a larger house in Mist, ward one house 1 I believe. It's the big mog house on the hill.
Awesome Application! Glad to have you joining us. Love the Dice Bag! Looks like you have all your forum permissions. Did you get in the Free Company yet? I texted my officers they should be looking for you in game if you don't find them. In the FFXIV section, take a look at the New Recruits Read this and the FFXIV 101. Helpful stuff in each. Getting Into the FC: For initially getting a FC invite we will be looking for you in game. Two fastest ways of getting in: Option 1 - If you wish you can also do a search or send a /tell out to one of the officers in our FC that can send you an FC invite after they confirm a complete application in the Silver Gates. We will do the same for you. (Evenings seem to work best) or Hang around our FC Home in the Mists - Ward 1, Plot 15 in the NE- there is nearly always someone there crafting or buying stuff at the Market Board. *** (FASTER) *** Option 2 - Fill out an "In Game" Application Request, say that you filled out the online application. ("View Company" of a online OSD Member and you'll see it on the bottom). Welcome to OSD! Doc
