Q. Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us, and do you currently have characters playing in game? If so what are their names? Which realm? Which platform? A. I am interested in joining a group in FFXIV. Mano Oscuro (main character) is on Sargatanas, but I would start a new character in a new world for a good group. I choose a different platform for different activities - typically I do dungeons and raids on PS4 and I mine and craft on PC. Q. This is the getting to know you portion of the questionnaire. Please tell us a little about yourself. (Hobbies?Family? Pets? School? Work? Any super hero or super villain abilities, nefarious schemes we should know about?) A. I am 39 years old, so I am a mature player. FFXIV is really the only game I play and I have been playing for a couple of years. I am a closet MMO player as most people in my life don't really know how much I enjoy and put into FFXIV. Most would not expect it because I have a busy professional life, I am an active person and I have an attentive father and husband. My in-game personality is very similar as I like to be helpful to others, contribute to a group and I like to protect others, which is why I chose the PLD tank role. Q. Why do you want to join OSD? What is it you are looking for in a guild? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? A. Being a mature player puts me in the minority. The years I have played this game have been with one friend and I feel like we have missed out on the social aspects of the game. I have been with a few free companies, but have not really been able to connect because of the behavior of the members, maturity level or simply because of the inactivity of the group. I have always felt that I have a lot to offer a group. I try to contribute as a player - I have decent tanking ability (PLD ilvl 213) and I have a decently leveled DPS (DRG ilvl 203) and healer (WHM lvl 50), which are not my favorite but it is important to be versatile for the good of a group. I also try to contribute as a person by being a supportive and patient teammate. What I mean by this is learning is a big part of this game. It frustrates me when people are impatient with each other or come down on players that are learning new mechanics or learning their jobs/classes. Some of the best best runs I have had over the last three years have been fails with good groups. I am look for an active group that wants to challenge new content, but puts the enjoyment and well-being of team mates first. Q - What led you to our website and ultimately to filling out this application? (Which friend? Website? In game ad? Psychic magnetism?) A. I have been searching the forums for a good group on my server and decided to start broadening my search. I found this group through a google search. Q. What is your typical game play schedule like? Please include times and time zones.A. I typically play Friday and Saturday from 10:00 PM EST until the wee hours of the morning. I do sometimes sprinkle in game time throughout the week, usually to craft and mine. Q. What is the best game you have ever played and why? A. Final Fantasy VII, and you know why. I am a big fan of the series and i am proud to say that I played the first FF when it came out. Second and third are the God of War series and Uncharted series. What these all have in common are great stories. I love story telling in gaming. Q. What platforms do you usually game on? If not just a PC, which consoles? A. PC for mining and crating in FFXIV only. I mostly play on PS4. Q. Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played for? A. I played WoW many years ago when it first came out. I believe I leveled one character to 40ish, which was decent enough for me to have explored most areas. I fell in love with the MMO concept, but WoW was not my style. I also played FFXI for a long time, although it was more my style, I did not achieve as much in game as I would like to have. I just enjoyed being on-line. I've been playing FFXIV slowly and deliberately since patch 2.1 (2013). Q. What is your favorite part of an MMO and why? (Leveling, PvP, raiding, community, roleplaying, crafting, achievements, exploration, etc) A. Exploration is by far my favorite part of an MMO. I love the scary possibility that aggroing a high-level critter in a new zone can spell disaster. I love going into new dungeons and new boss fights with a blind party (before anyone knows any of the mechanics). It takes a patient group to be able to do this. I just got into gathering and crafting and I am really starting to enjoy it. I plan to level all crafting and gathering classes because it will give me new was to help other players. Q. Are there any future MMO's or multiplayer games you're interested in playing? A. I have elder scrolls on PS4, but couldn't get into it. I am not opposed to giving it another shot. I would also give WoW another shot too. I purchased WoD when it came out and played it for a bit, so my character is still alive from back in 2005, but I prefer to allocate my limited gaming time to FFXIV. Q. OSD is more than just a guild in a single game. We are a community of gamers that come together through the forums and Teamspeak. Do you plan on being active on the forums and use TS? What are your thoughts on using event calendars on the forums to coordinate guild events? A. I enjoy it when groups use teamspeak because the players become real people. I imagine that connecting in other ways adds to this element. Honestly, I have not typically connected with a gaming community outside of the game, but I would be open to the experience. Q. OSD has earned and prides itself on a reputation of respect, maturity and integrity. Please read the OSD CODE OF CONDUCT. If you violate any of these rules you jeopardize the reputation of our community and will face disciplinary action up to, and including, removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule? A. I do understand, and agree with the rule. Q. We will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time, you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and even the playing field a little. What are your thoughts on this topic? A. This is exactly what I am looking for - to support a group that works and exists well together. Q. Pretend you are raiding with the guild and after the final boss fight an uber fantastic, stupendous, ultra rare, sparkly item drops. Who do you think should receive this item and why? A. The player that can most benefit from this should receive it. Gear drops are a group concept, not a dog-eat-dog concept. Lets say we have two tanks and I have an ilvl230 sword , the other tank has an i lvl215 sword. If an ilvl 235 sword drops, I am likely to pass on it so the other tank can greed. In the endgame stages, I need to be as concerned with my teamate's gear as they are. And I would hope that they are looking out for me also. Q. Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams? A. Bacon tastes awesome, but it is not awesome for me. Bacon is a great metaphor for many things in life that taste great, but mess up your insides. Right now, chicken wings are my bacon. Chicken wings wrapped in bacon are my ultimate demise. Chicken wings wrapped in bacon with a side of baby back ribs... Oh my, the end is near...
