Greetings, all! I've been poking around your site for awhile now and think I have (hopefully) found a home. Here are my answers to the applications questions: - What brought you to our website? My mouse. It's the darndest thing...I click on the links from the Guild Matchup page on the DDO site and here I am. - Why might you be interested in joining our community? From what I can tell, your members seem to have many of the same values that I have. I'm literally brand new to DDO and I'm only a few days into the trial, but as a long-time Turbine fan (AC1, LoTRO), this looks like a good fit for me. I want to have fun with DDO, but my life will prevent it from ever being more than a game. I'm hitting 46 next week (wow...am I really that old?) and we have an 18-month-old at home, so life is busy to say the least. - Have you been playing MMO's for a while or are you just getting started? If you know what a MUD is, then yes, you could say I've played for a long time Everything from UO to AC1 to LoTRO, with a few others in there for good measure. - Do you feel comfortable with the website and it's resources? Yup...pretty self-explanatory. - What kind of character do you typically play? Tell us about your main character? I'm still deciding on that. I normally play a Paladin as I like the combination of fighter and self-healing, as I often play solo (but, not out of choice). Never really been attracted to anything other than "good " characters, but that's just me. - Describe your style of game play... Pretty casual for the most-part. Never really got into raiding in other games, which is probably because the rewards really aren't why I play. For me, it's the journey that counts, not the destination. I like to group and be a significant contributor to the group. I'm almost always pure PvE...PvP has little to zero appeal (especially since I, well....suck). - What time of day do you typically play? How often? With the baby, I can't usually get on for long times until about 8 PM PST, but I play nighty for 3-4 hours when I can. - Are you affiliated with any other guilds? Nope...nada. - Which of the characters listed in your forum signature (see STEP 3) do you play the most? I'm not an ALT kinda guy...one and only character is Gumdoc. - We are an Argonnessen Server guild within Dungeons and Dragons Online. Do you play on this server? I do now Thanks for considering the application! Gumdoc
welcome to our stronghold, brother i accepted yer citizenship usergroup, so you now have further forum access feel free to browse around and ask any questions that may come to mind, while the others get a chance to poke their noses in here to say hi hope to see ya ingame soon
Hello Gumdoc, welcome to our forums. Yndro has given you some more access to the forums. Check things out and let us know if you need any help. Catch ya ingame.
Welcome friend... IMPORTANT QUESTION: Do you forsee yourself being active within these forums? Much of our guild activity (Events/Coordination) are communicated within these forums.. We have members seeking tips here as well...and visa versa. The question is a pretty important one. I would hate for a member to be/feel disconnected by not using this resource. Additionally, we're not JUST a DDO guild... We're a gaming community/friends... We hope that as you or IF you... lose interest in DDO... you'll still consider this your home. one day we'll be planting our flag in another game... who knows. We'd like to sound the horns of battle and see our members come to the call. =)
Yes, I do. As a matter of fact, that was one of the main things that attracted me to the guild: an active website and forums. I seem to be blocked from much of the content currently, but I assume that will be lifted as my application is considered. Having tried many MMOs, I have no doubt that my interest will wane over time and that I will be looking at other games. My biggest regret in AC1 was that the members of my guild did not move on as a community when people starting looking for other games, so I hope that I can become part of an online family.
He certainly has my vote!! I might roll a new Bard soon and play with him through the early content. =P
welcome and i think you have found the right place! and i also agrea with sook you have my vote! and once you get acess (rember to be pachent good thaings come to those that weight) you will see the whole calener and comeing frome some one with kids it helps to plan out hat i need to do and avoid wagro (wife agro) by telling her a week to two weeks out that i need to be on at a set time and date. and then i wheel and deal till she says yes normaly that means i am stuck with the crap jobs around the house, but you find that we are not a pvp guild we will on a acoasion plan a naked coal fight or a guild pvp event where the casters kill every one! these are very few and far between. we are more of group foceced guild and other then that welcome to the forums (not invited yet but looking good) when the boss pops in he will let you know weather your invited by posting to your app if you see us in game send us a tell and we will help if we can.
Thanks for the warm welcomes. I'm happy to run with any of you at any time. I'm still trying to learn the UI and I seem to get lost all over Stormreach, but I'm having fun so far and I'll pick it up soon enough.
Id vote to let you into the guild, but Ive only got a greencard. Did I tell you guys I got my greencard?! Well, I did. Welcome to the Wonderful World of The O.S.D. Im Bee.
man I must be sleeping, been trolling forums a lot the past few days, and for some reason this thread avoided my sharp wits and fastclicking finger.... ehm you sir, sounds like a perfect candidate for OSD membership! I have a lowbie(new low lvl alt) called yndros shorts(not to confuse with yndrofians characters... or is it?) - and I'm looking forward to be chatting with ya and sharing the joy of getting lost in the habour(I still do that) welcome to the gates
Heya Gumdoc! Glad ya found our happy little disfunctional family! I went ahead and approved your DDO membership now all ya gotta do is register your toon in the roster (if ya haven't already, it's homepage on the left tab side), and we'll get ya an in-gameinvite! Welcome to the guild!
Thanks! Gumdoc the not-so-powerful level 1.4 Pally is now registered. A few questions: 1. Should I be able to see more than 2 forums? I see News and Announcements and Silver Gates, but these appear to be Visitor forums...are there hidden ones that are, well...hidden? 2. What's the preferred method for voice chat? Vent or In-game audio? I'm familar with Vent (already set up the OSD server) but not in-game (yet). Thanks...hope to see you all in-game. PS How in the world do you pronounce "Yndros"?
Make sure you are properly logged in when viewing the forums... If you see the LOGIN boxes in the upper right corner you are not.... Once logged in you'll see all our forums for Members. We primarily use the DDO chat... on special occasions we use our own Vent server.
something along the lines of jandros, but with the "j" having a "y" twist tehe, welcome to the guild man!
in'-dròs and my name is pronouned: in-drò'-fee-un and you will hear many many bastardized versions of that
And My name is pronounced: Gee Funk Or simply Dex, but thats just if you wanna call be by my name. Anyways, welcome, bro.
Got it. Any idea how to get an in-game invite to the Guild? Or are we not at that point yet? I've been on a few hours each night but haven't heard from anyone...not that I even know how to respond to an /tell yet
