Q: What brought you to our website? If it was another site, please let us know where you heard of us.

A:Saw your thread on the offical Wildstar forums

Q: This recruitment process is a great opportunity to get to know you a little bit. Please tell us a little about yourself personally and add in your past MMO experience.

A:I've been playing MMOs since...uh whatever that dragon game was (they later reused the same engine for Furcadia). Dragonspires I think. Then Meridian59 and then well..lots of games. Also text muds. Basically I was/am a huge table-top nerd and always look to get that fix in the video game world. As for something about myself...well...I like MMOs...sometimes. Uh...walks on the beach?

Q: What time of day do you typically play? How often?

A: Evenings during the week (EST) and whenever on the weekends. Weekend time is null to little, weekends I get a chunk of time in depending on what else is going on.

Q: What kind of character do you typically play? Tell us about your main character, and please list any alts that you will be bringing into the guild as well.

A: Warriors. Hulk smash. My guy is a dude who wears this awesome hat and goes around fighting people because he's a bad ass. Also housing is really expensive so he needs to take their stuff so he can have nice stuff.

Q: Are you affiliated with any other guilds?

A: Not in this game but I'm a member of Gaiscioch.

Q: What is it you're looking for in a guild? Why do you want to join OSD? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you?

A: People to talk to that are not awful human beings, and people to play with and have fun. From everything I read you guys seem like nice people, which is good because I get annoyed with jerks. I can help people by being my charming self and sucking hard at dungeons and group content. You can help me by being interesting and not annoying.

Q: We have found that guild members have a better gaming experience if they use the forums and the events calender. This allows you to get game information and join you guildmates in-game as a group. Members should RSVP for scheduled events as their real life schedule permits. Creating events is good for the community and is encouraged whenever possible. What are your thoughts on this?

    A: Sure.

Q: OSD is generally a "casual, do it all" guild, meaning we welcome players from all playstyles and don't limit our focus to one playstyle in particular. We welcome PvPers, PvEers, Roleplayers, Crafters, etc. For example, while we may offer weekly raids, we are not a hardcore raiding guild that requires you to raid 5 or 6 nights a week. We also do not consider any one playstyle to be more important than another, all members of OSD are equal. For example, a hardcore PvPer will never be considered "more valuable" to the guild than a casual Roleplayer would be. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic?

A: I have a company, a wife, and a child, so uh yeah that sounds pretty good.

Q: With the previous question in mind...we will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role, or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and ven the playing field a little. Are you okay with this? Any additional thoughts on this topic?

A: Yeah actually I don't mind this at all, it may motivate me to do something when I'm being lazy - but fair warning there may be sometimes I REALLY want to be lazy.

Q: If you violate any rules defined within the gaming EULA, or the OSD Code of Conduct you will face disciplinary action up to and including removal from this community. Do you understand and agree with this rule?

    A: Sure.

    Q: Is bacon awesome? Why?

A: Honestly, the bacon thing is kind of overplayed. If you go to any code seminars, gaming conventions, etc, its all over the place. Don't get me wrong I'm not a hipster but bacon is the zombies of food now. It's the sort of thing a marketing director would ask potential recruits at a job fair. I was at a code seminar a few years back and they literally had a bacon bar. And they were announcing it and trying to act all cool like 'DUDE LOOK HOW SWEET IT IS TO CODE PYTHON MAN WE EAT DEAD PIGS!!' That experience kind of jumped the shark for me. I mean I enjoy the food, but I also don't walk around going 'You know what would be totally sweet? CHIPOTLE BACON BURRITOS (I know some of you are right now having your mouths water, sigh). This is officially the 2014 interview question version of 'how many pay phones are in manhattan'. =D

Funny response to the bacon question. =)

I've accepted both of your permission groups, so you're all set. Welcome to OSD!

We have a huge amount of info in our new member thread that we like to have all our new members check out, specifically for our Wildstar division.

Also, we require all new members to complete loyalty quests. These are really just fun things to do with the guild and it proves to us that you want to spend time with everyone (and other members will want to spend time with you). Most of these things you'll be doing regardless, so it's not something out of the ordinary, but they are exclusive to the guild. The loyalty quests are mandatory if you want to be promoted from Cupcake to Dragon. For full details on this check out our loyalty quests page.

As far as an in-game invite, look up Xanz, Balerathon, Greenmonk, Bubbajay, Bellix, Raulin or Izzy.

One last thing that we ask is that when you’re in the in-game guild, that you post your forum name (if it’s different from your character name) in the roster notes.

Welcome to OSD... where we'll remind you not to let your company, wife, and child get between you and your main, alt, and mule.

    Nice app Akeris,

So what languages do you know? I do work in Python and R (but mostly coding experiments and the analytic tools thereafter (mmm data!)

Glad to see another Warrior in the mix, we're a good bunch. Hope to rampage through Nexus with you mate!

Heh, I'm a python guy myself. Well, currently. Started many moons ago with C#, moved to various MSFT languages, did Perl for a bit, and now have been writing python for half a decade. That's not including the suite of various storage libraries (from RDBs to Mongo, Lucene, etc.). So I know a little about data myself!

Thanks for the warm welcome all, happy to see my dry sense of humor is not offensive. Sorry for the late reply - first night I got home before it was..well, morning. One of those weeks. Looking forward to seeing you in game.
