Q. Which game(s) are you currently interested in playing with us, and do you currently have characters playing in game? If so what are their names? Which realm? Which platform?

A. I am currently playing FF14 on the Famfrit server with the character Anna Lannis on the PC. I only have one character; aside from getting a college degree and playing other *offline* games. I cannot handle playing more than one character (and I'm not really the multi-toon type anyway).


Q. This is the getting to know you portion of the questionnaire. Please tell us a little about yourself. (Hobbies?Family? Pets? School? Work? Any super hero or super villain abilities, nefarious schemes we should know about?)

A. My home is an area flooded by Katrina... so I haven't a lot of things. I'm poor and a college student. I also want to incinerate the Black Shroud with Ifrit while he's possed by a Voidsent becasue I'm tired of Gridiania having this beautiful forest and all anyone does is whine and complain about "outsiders" and being miserable. As much as I love the forest, and a hardcore white mage, the "gated community" attitude of the average Gridanian po's me.

Q. Why do you want to join OSD? What is it you are looking for in a guild? How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you?

A. I'm looking for a guild that actually does things. I have every job/craft @ 50. But my main job is White Mage. I love being a hapi lil' WHM and run around giving people *hugs*. The biggest reason is that my FC is dying out some and no one does anything and talks anymore, and Famfrit has stopped being a "family" server.


Q. What events lead you to our website and ultimately to filling out this application? Website? In game ad? Psychic magnetism?

A. I have been playing FF14 since 2.0 and it was a wonderful experience. I actually felt like people loved me but as time went on people became more and more toxic.


Q. What is your typical game play schedule like? Please include Times and Time zones.

A. I play whenever I'm not "on the job". i.e. evenings/weekends.


Q. What is the best game you have ever played and why?

A. That is an incredibly difficult choice. But I would have to say FF4(known as FF2 on Super NES).


Q. What platforms do you usually game on? If not just a PC, which consoles?

A. I just play on PC now. PC's are more portable than consoles, etc.


Q. Tell us a little about your experience with MMOs. Which MMOs have you played and how long have you played for?

A. I originally played FFxi for five years. Mostly as WHM. Also was an Aion Cleric for 2 years and WoW Holy/Disc priest for six months.


Q. What is your favorite part of a MMO and why? (Leveling, PvP, Raiding, Community, Roleplaying, Crafting, Achievements, Exploration, etc)

A. The whole point in playing an MMO is the community. The community essentially makes or breaks an MMO for me.


Q. Are there any future MMO's or multiplayer games you're interested in playing?

A. One character and one game are mroe than enough for me.


Q. OSD is more than just a guild in a single game. We are a community of gamers that come together through the forums and Teamspeak. Do you plan on being active on the forums and use TS? What are your thoughts on using event calendars on the forums to coordinate guild events?

A. Yes, you aren't really a guild if you do not do things together.


Q. OSD has earned and prides itself on a reputation of respect, maturity and integrity. Please read the OSD CODE OF CONDUCT. If you violate any of these rules you jeopardize the reputation of our community and will face disciplinary action up to, and including, removal from this community. Do you understand, and agree with this rule?

A. As long as someone doesn't explode at me for every real or imagined slight. I have a story about Wizardry Online I would rather not repeat here. That said #1 reason I join is to get away from the toxicity, so I don't see a problem.


Q. We will never force you to participate in any activity or event that falls outside your playstyle of choice. However, from time to time, you may be asked to help the guild out if we are short on a particular role or just need to fill up an empty group spot. For example, if you happen to be a tank built character, and we need to fill out a raid spot with a tank, we may ask you to come along and help out the raid. Or if we happen to be outnumbered in a PvP battle, we may ask you to come help us bolster our numbers and even the playing field a little. What are your thoughts on this topic?

A. I can't always drop what I'm doing and run over to help everyone. BUT... if you have a scheduled event planned I can always be on standby (generally I'm just doing crafting dailies, etc.) I love doing things with people.


Q. Pretend you are raiding with the guild and after the final boss fight an uber fantastic, stupendous, ultra rare, sparkly item drops. Who do you think should receive this item and why?

A. Whoever earns it the most. Yes, I know this is entirely subjective, but I think giving the textbook awnser "what benefits the guild the most", doesn't really sit well with me at all. *cough* Ridell *cough*. Imagine a THF who raids constantly everyday but senority is given to a WAR that shows up once a month... NO. You want something you put in the time. Period.


Q. Is bacon awesome? What form does bacon manifest in your dreams?

A. Bacon is fine in moderation, as long as the fat is taken off... turkey bacon is friggin' awesome.

To be honest, my FC is wonderful, we have a lovely FC house, its just that the FC leader is rarely on anymore... but no one does FC events anymore and there is very little actually going on... not to mention trying to do Shiva EX and Turn 9 with people who aren't the "quit after 2 wipes" crowd... I would miss my old FC dearly, but i wanted to talk to someone IG in order and look at your guys before deciding to transfer... I don't take lightly having to transfer. Famfrit has become and incredablly crappy server (generally in attitude, not in ability).

 

Welcome to the community. I'm sure you'll find the FFXIV division to your liking but even if you don't feel free to take part in our community here on the website and maybe you'll join us down the line. I don't play FFXIV but I hear nothing but good things around our community from those playing in the division.

One of the largest complaints we've been hearing and having about games recently is the poor attitude or lack of respect of players of the game. I've yet to meet a member of OSD that hasn't been respectful, even in disagreement. We tend to be fun loving group. More of a family like atmosphere.

So what are you majoring in?

 

Hugs are Great! I Remember another Applicant here was talking about how the WOW Guild Community has changed over the course of time and they really wanted a Community back like the Golden Guild days of WOW or even EQ. That's what we strove for with building the 'right' atmosphere in FFXIV. Granted we don't have 8 static groups running at the same time like we did at our raiding height due to people moving on but overall activity has been up lately and we've have plenty of people on (easily 30+) during the evenings of this last week easy. I feel we have fit the Mature Casual Social and Progression Nitch. I think Celebrating a few FC Weddings has been a blast, especially in TS. We have a new wave of people just coming to the game as well as a good number of transfers coming to us from various locations that have become very active people and has become a win - win situation so far. We have a planned FC Meeting in Teamspeak coming up on 1/10 at 9pm EST you are welcome to attend if you wish, might give you a flavor of the Silver Dragons. Our Leadership team is really big on communicating and wanting to have a platform for members to voice concerns and address them. We are always in a state of growth and hope to continue to grow our FC.

What's the name of your in game character on the Diabolos server atm? I can look for you and we can meet up to talk. Or if you prefer you can jump on Teamspeak and talk there. Evenings work best for me, I'm in CST for times.

I know is stinks when the temperature of home that worked great for you isn't cutting it for you like it used to. One thing I've learned about FFXIV, is there are certainly very passionate people playing this game...lol. So please take your time on Famfrit to do what you need to do. But I just need a way of making an appointment time with you so we can touch base and chat. Hopefully that can alleviate some of your concerns. For an introvert, I can chat quiet a bit...lol. I'm majoring in computer stuff... but yeah i think I would like to join that meeting before i decided to join for real... just be warned, I don't like to talk on voicechat (but i love to listen). I'm trying to catch up with getting my 4 star recipes.

 

Sounds great! We will look for you. We have plenty of our crafters working on projects all the time so I hear ya... Show up alittle early and we'll pull you to our Meeting channel, just whisper me in TS before the meeting. We usually meet our characters in the basement of our FC house while we chat as well.

 

This morning I met with a bit of an aphinany; i was up early this morning crafting... and didn't realize that the wedding for an FC member scheduled for today was very early(i thought it was this afternoon). Weddings were supposed to be 2 hours long but i didn't notice it was 30 minutes past and it was already over... The FC leader and several officers I used to raid with didn't even notice I wasn't there... no /tells no "where's Anna...." nothing. I know I was gone for 3 month because of classes... but wow...

It may be later... but I definatlly be switching FCs/servers soon. I just need to work everything out.

 

All good. Several of my officers were commenting on your application to me and thought you would be a good match here. We love introverts and extraverts. Crafters and Raiders, New people to the game and old people that even played FFXI. We look to continue growing well into the expansion and beyond with a Strong Social Community and overall great FC. Last Night a few of us got on Wii U and did some Smash Brothers. Others helped a new 50 on the 8 mans on his Relic Quest. And Another group was working on running a new player on their first 3 dungeons. We also have a few people coming back to us, after stepping away from the game around 2.1. We are Casual, because real life happens, many of us have families, significant others, school, work - but the one thing we have in common is a love for this MMO. I don't see us disappearing anytime soon and I really want to keep us growing.

What is the stance on swearing? I mean, I don't talk like a sailor or pirate or anything, but I want want to know what will get me kicked.

 

Many of us have families and little ones that run around near by. We generally try to keep FC chat PG-13 (more for wandering eyes of family members), you can /tell whatever you want to people or in /party chat. In TS, its usually a little more loose, especially on Friday night socials....lol, where people are usually having a drink or two. We even have a Raider that balances his baby on his lap while he plays. Being yourself generally won't get yourself kicked. We have people in our FC of all types each with a different background and story. We just ask that people generally keep the language respectful in FC chat.

 

Okay, I just wanted to make sure I don't do/say anything that is going to cause an overreaction. You cannot believe how many people I have run into that look for an excuse to pick a fight with you/shame you/make you look bad/feel like a criminal and done in order to be popular.

One more thing, when I transfer my character, I'll still have all my levels, etc. right? I won't need to start from level 1 or anything like that?

 

I made an Alt on Diabolos I went to Mists on Ward 1/Plot 12 and got Shades of Eoreza house... did I go the right server, house etc. ?

I heard you were looking for me in game today. Tuesday and Wednesdays are tricky days for me to get online for FFXIV early due to RL stuff. What's the name of your Alt on the server? Again, I'm more than happy to meet up and talk your ear off answering questions. Thursday, I'll be on before raiding at 8pm CST (9pm EST / 6pm PST).
