As Seldonia sat in her chair sipping her third drink of the evening, wondering whether the bartender might have done something unsavory to it, there was a loud commotion at the entrance. People stepped aside to allow the scrawniest of squires through to the center of the room. He held a very fancy scroll in his hand. One that looked far more expensive than all of his clothes combined. The squire stood straight, snapped his heals together and cleared his throat as he unraveled the scroll. In a voice louder than anyone could have expected coming from such a frail frame he announced, By Decree, High Lord Sook Dukar has appointed Vastiner as Talon of High Sorcery! He is a direct agent of Lord Sook and will have full control over the realm he has been appointed to. When Talon Vastiner speaks of this realm it will be not only his voice but that of Lord Sook as well. With a hand picked team he shall lead the charge in new ways of Scrying and recording the Dragons' exploits throughout the realm. With that the squire re-rolled the scroll, snapped his heals again as he turned and left the tavern. Excited voices could be heard throughout the room. Seldonia was quite excited herself and wondered at what great things may come. She started to clap in applause at the news.

Where's my Countdowns? I was told that I would have an endless supply of Countdowns from Finleyville! Joking aside(I wasn't joking. I want my Countdowns), I've been working in IT Security for the better part of 6 years now. OSD has been like an extended family to me for most of that time. I want to see it flourish and if I can help make it happen, I will. I have a lot to catch up on in the admin side of things. I'm appointing Balerathon as my Knight(in shining armor, sorry Bale) and will be working closely with him to manage the site. Together I'm sure we can make this site a pleasing, fun, and fast (no more bad gateway messages!!) place to be.

After the squire left the bar, Finleyville just smiled and nodded. He knew Vastiner personally and knew that a better man for the job could not be found. As the applause rounded the tavern he decided to show his appreciation in another way. He turned his back to the crowd and ducked down under the bar. Chanting softly and tracing some crude runes in the air a small portion of the lower bar glowed briefly and then slid away. It revealed a little alcove where several bottles of different shapes and sizes lay hidden. Chuckling to himself, Finleyville silently thanked that shady rogue whom taught him this small bit of sorcery in return for a special brew job. After briefly looking over his small collection he reached in the back to a smaller genie-shaped bottle. He closed the compartment with a wave of his hand and returned to the bar. As he prepared this concoction Finleyville was still a little surprised to find the smaller bottle still warm after a couple of years since he first devised this potion. After putting the finishing touches on the cocktail Finleyville caught the eye of one of the workers of the Silver Flagon Tavern. [MENTION=2503]Balerathon[/MENTION] walked over with a quizzical look on his face. Finleyville motioned for Bale to lean in so he could whisper into one his ears. "Yes, I will do that for you," started Balerathon as he straightened up and placed the newly made smoking drink on a serving tray, "but I do not understand what that means or even what this is!" "Do not worry," answered Finleyville, "he will." Balerathon just shrugged as he took up the tray and started across the floor. It was easy to spot Vastiner sitting at the head of one of the larger tables surrounded by many patrons shaking his hand and patting him on the back. The crowd parted as the tray bearing Bale neared him. Vastiner looked up and smiled as Bale placed the drink in front of the newly appointed man. "Finleyville asked me if I would give this to you, on the house," Bale told Vastiner. Vastiner smiled wickedly as he eagerly reached out to take the glass. Intending to quickly gulp down the free drink Vastiner asked, "Not that it matters, but what kind of drink is this anyway?" "He would not tell me," answered Balerathon, "he only told me to say 'ten, nine, eight..." With the glass an inch from his lips Vastiner suddenly stopped and laughed out loud interrupting his friend. All those around him stopped talking and looked strangely at Vastiner. "I do not understand. What does that mean?" Balerathon asked. "It means two things," replied Vastiner. "One that I need to slowly sip this drink else evil things will surly befall me." "And two," Vastiner continued with an ever widening smile across his face, "that you now work for me. You have just been promoted!" All those around now was congratulating both of the men knowing that the security of the Silver Flagon Tavern could not be in better hands.
Boring OOC post: Sorry to post this "Out of Character" but I wanted to get this out so to set the appropriate expectation. First off, I'm very excited with what Vastiner will be able to do for us at this site, and at our supporting sites (discord for example). With him as one of my Talons, coupled with the support of Knight Bale, we'll have a very formidable IT team here at OSD. There are mountains of projects on their plate and Bale is currently out of pocket on a trip for the next 11 days... So we'll need to do this one bite at a time. So, I ask for your patience and support!! I know there's some really exciting things to do.... but turning our ship around overnight is a bit over ambitious. hehe With that said, I owe Vastiner tons of information he has already asked for so to dig in, and until I give him this information I'm holding him back!! Evidence, we have the right guy in there leading the IT charge! Kudos and thanks to both Vastiner and Bale for supporting him technically. Congratulations! *salutes* Sook Dukar
