- What brought you to our website? I found your website by looking at rift's official shard forums - This recruitment process requires that we get to know you a little bit. Tell us about yourself: I’m a causal player, mainly due to RL obligations. Work, Wife and kids take a lot of my time. I play MMO games to relax. I used to raid in WoW back in the BC days and at the start of WotLK. This is simply no longer possible for me to sit 3 hours straight 2 or 3 evenings a week. I really enjoyed Wrath’s Heroics as they were short enough to allow me to hop in, do a random and then come back later if I get the time to. Cataclysm heroics in Pugs taking as much time as a raiding session. This left me with playing the Auction House, which got old fast as inflation took the skill out of the equation. So, here I am, giving a shot at Rift, hoping to find a more casual friendly game. So far I’ve been having a lot of fun. Chasing rifts, defending against invasion. This is something I liked a lot about Tabula Rasa and I’m glad to see in Rift. At one point I intend to give a shot at instances, but this is definitely something I’d rather try in a guild group rather than a pug. I still have nightmares of Pugs I ran with in WoW (Cata era). I’m French Canadian, so if you ever hear me over vent, I have a big accent. You might have also spotted a couple of grammatical errors in my application, now you know why. Also, my left hand types faster than my right one, so I often switch letters around. I do my best to correct those typos, but more often than not, I do miss some of them. - We have found that guild members have a better gaming experience if they use the forums and the events calender. This allows you to get game information and join guildies in quests as your RL time permits. Do you intend on being active on our website forums and Events Calendar? Forums : definitely, I've been a lurker on my WoW guild forums for years now. I don't see why this would be any different here, assuming we are a match As far as calendar goes, well my only steady playtime being during lunch time I'd could only "schedule" something around that time. The rest of my playtime pops up without much notice. - Once you learn how, we would like you to create events or RSVP for other scheduled events as your RL schedule permits. What are your thoughts on this? If it fits with anyone else's schedule I wouldn't mind bringing anyone to my daily sessions. I used to run chain dungeons (in wow) with 3 guildies every day. In fact, it would even ease my transition from wow to Rift if I did happen to get folks to run with me. - Have you been playing MMO's for a while or are you just getting started? My first MMO was WoW (end of closed beta, played since then), Tried LOTRO, DDO and Tabula Rasa. - We expect all players to submit and update their characters in our website ROSTER. Are you ok with this? After reading the above content, why do you think it might be important? (Note: our current roster system is undergoing a revamp, and we will be using a thread to facilitate this in the meantime) Would't mind as long as this is somewhat automated or only takes a couple of minutes once in a while - What kind of character do you typically play? Tell us about your main character: I play Tanks and healer mainly as I feel that I have more involvement on what's going on. - If you violate ANY rules defined within the gaming EULA you will be removed from this community. You ok with this? You mean, i can't bot at all ??? Ah man.... Joking, aside if you break the rules, you deserved to be banned from the game as simple as that. - What time of day do you typically play? How often? As stated above, I play 1 hours every weekday during lunch (12PM to 1PM EST), unless something comes up at work. Other than that, playtime is pretty much random. - Are you affiliated with any other guilds? No, haven't found any "active" and non-hardcore yet. - How do you think you can best help this community? How can this community best help you? Well, I’m a good guy, who is always willing to help guildies when he can. I used to do a lot of theorycrafting in wow, maybe this is a professional deformation, as I work as a QA specialist for a living. So getting to know “how” things work is part of the “template”. As far as helping me, well grouping to do quests and or dungeon is always welcome. - Which of the characters listed in your forum signature (see STEP 3) do you play the most? What level is your main character? When I am alone, my Cleric is my main (Justicar). When my friend comes in, I play my rogue(Riftstalker) as he's a healer. - Our focus is Defiant on the Bryiel server. We will play Guardian on the Sunrest server as a secondary. Do you intend to play on one of these servers/factions? I'm already setup on Bryiel, defiant side
Forget all the other questions. After reading this, only one question remains that truly matters... Are you a Habs fan? :colbert:
Welcome to the Silver Gates Leslannatrix Love the title of your application thread ^_^ One of the officer/leader people should be along to look it over soon As for the roster, currently it consists of a thread in the Rift section of the forum, which you'd just quickly make a post in listing your characters, like what's in your signature. I used to play WoW as well, from just before Burning Crusade up until Cataclysm came out, when I left WoW for DDO, which I'm currently still addicted to I much prefer raiding in DDO, less of a chore. Some of them take only half an hour or an hour, and its way easier to get a good raid group, on those occasions when the guild isn't already running 'em anyway. I gave Rift a try, but am not playing that one at the moment myself. There are quite a few guildies frequently getting together to run instances there though, I believe. I still play a lot of dps, but these days tanks are my favorite. Healers...eh I enjoy occasionally running 'em, as alts, not exactly the role I enjoy most though. I found healing in Rift actually a bit less stressful than in many other MMOs I've played though, which was nice. Ran a Druid/Warden/Shaman Cleric, while my stint there lasted.
I used to. But a time comes where a man has to look at what crap his team is throwing at him and finally say : #@$ them, I'll cheer for some other team that DO intend to win. (Currently rooting for the Caps, but if a teams ever come back to Québec City, I'll be sure to cheer for them)
Glad you liked it. Figured I'd add a small piece of "rp" in it. Ok, no biggie then. I can definitely do that. -- I'll logging off for the night, I'll check for replies in the morning before getting to work. Night all !
Ha, I wish I could take that approach. I was brought up a Leafs fan and as a result I am now immune to the disappointment of a team not winning. As hard as I try, I can't not root for them. I bleed blue and white and that's probably not ever going to change. However! Seeing as you are not currently a Habs fan, then I shall stamp this application with my approval. Note: My approval doesn't mean anything, especially considering I don't play Rift. I just like bugging the new applicants. Welcome and such.
Lol Griff I think your post literally beat mine in here by like one second. It didn't show up on my screen after I posted mine, until I left the thread and came back. Thinking in sync much? Really? That'd be neat to see. Hey Griff, c'mere next to me for a sec
Let me Check if I can provide the right tools for the job. *checks in his toolbox, grabs a rusty screwdriver* Yep, this shall do the trick. Ok, where are you now? Back on hockey: You said you are a leafs fan, so I gotta ask; Were you born when they last won the Stanley Cup? (ok, that's a mean one, I have to admit)
I'm 27 so I was born 16 years after their last Cup win, haha. However I've seen enough championships from other teams to keep me somewhat satisfied over the years. I'm a Steelers fan, so I've seen 2 Superbowls. The Argos have won a handful of Grey Cups. I'm not really a baseball fan, but it was cool to see the Jays win big back in the 90's. And of course it's always great to see Canada take home hockey gold, be it in the World Cup, Olympics, etc. Honestly though, I'd be truly scared to see what a Stanley Cup win would do to the city of Toronto. People would just go crazy. I'm fairly certain the city would implode. *is momentarily distracted by sports talk* Hmm? Yes? *walks over*
I'm 33 so I recall still vividly what the 93' cup was like in Montreal. Luckily for us, the City of Québec is kinda blessed with winning teams : Remparts won the Memorial cup a few years ago, Capitals (independent baseball) won their league's title 2 years back to back and Finally, the Rouge & Or (CIS) is THE team to beat in Canada every year. Unfortunately, none of these team is a "professional" team, not that they aren't run as such, but its no NHL, NFL or MLB.
