Shaking off the events of the past few days Seldonia finally found the courage to face High Lord Sook and the rest of the Talon at her first official meeting. Her hands were visibly shaking as she made her way in to the Talon hall. “Calm yourself, Seld, how can you possibly write with hands that are like fall leaves in the wind?” She said to herself as she crossed the threshold of the inner meeting hall. There they were, High Lord Sook, Vastiner, Yndrofian, and DoctorHoo, sitting there waiting patiently. As Seldonia approached the table they all looked at her and then raised their hands in front of themselves as to protect themselves, “How are you feeling today Seldonia?” Yndrofian asked her and the rest burst into laughter that went on and on. Seldonia, not one to be swayed or intimidated that easily, or at least not letting on that she was, look Lord Sook in the face, “Thank you for helping me make a good first impression,” she said blankly. He chuckled, “I told you we would speak about it and laugh, did I not?” She had to admit he was true to his word. Seldonia smiled and took her seat at the table. “Let me know when you boys are done, I'll wait.” She said in her most deadpan of voices. The laughing slowed to chuckles and threatened to continue had it not been for Lord Sook. “Gentlemen, and Lady, if we're finished, there are more pressing matter we need to discuss. I would like to officially call this meeting to order." The room quieted down as all eyes fell on Sook. “Let me start by welcoming Seldonia to her first of many meetings. Um, Seld? You didn't have to write that down, yeah, um, just the important stuff, no you didn't have to write that either, okay, okay, go ahead, write it if you want.” He rolled is eyes jokingly and looked at the other four and shrugged. “Apparently she likes to be thorough,” he shrugged once more and continued. “As some of you have already brought to my attention, and the rest of you will learn right now, this entire Stronghold is in serious need of repairs and updating.” Pointing to Vastiner he continued, “I have enlisted Vastiner to gather a team and see what can be done about giving the entire place a fresh new coat of paint and some upgrades to the outer walls.” I am pleased to announce that Vastiner and his small crew have not only come up with a solution but they will be implementing crews throughout the Stronghold to start with those repairs and upgrades today.” There was some excited talk among the Talons and some congratulations to Vastiner for making it happen so quickly. When the talk had died down some, Sook continued, “Seldonia, I need for you to be hasty about spreading the word, people will see the changes taking place but I need you to be a step ahead of them, let them know what they can expect to see, point them to the areas that are being worked on and let them see for themselves. Most importantly get the news spreading to the entire area as quickly as you can.” Seldonia, writing down the words as fast she could, looked up at Sook and acknowledged his command, “I am on it sir!” She said with zest and excitement in her voice. She started to stand as if to leave. Sook stopped her with one hand held out, “Whoa, not so fast. Let the residents know I want their feedback as soon as possible. Before the crews can cover the area with too much new paint, I want to know if the residents like the colors, and the architectural style that Vastiner has come up with. This is for the entire community, they should at least have a say in how their house is painted.” Vastiner and the rest of the Talons nodded in agreement, “I have several palettes to choose from,” Vastiner said as he tossed a book across the table at Seldonia. “If you use the index in the bottom left corner of that book, you will see the choices available at the moment. I am waiting for the next caravan of pigments to arrive before I add more choices to that book.” Seldonia, using her thumb to hold the first tab flipped the book open. Inside there were a myriad of colors and styles to choose from. “Impressive, Talon Vastiner, very impressive,” she said as she flip through each page. “I shall let the community know this book is available to them.” “Lord Sook, if there is nothing else I would like to take leave of the meeting to get this out as soon as possible.” He nodded his approval, “By all means make it happen.” She stood as she gathered her notes and turned to leave. Two steps from the table Seldonia turned back to Sook, “Oh by the way, I have taken the liberty of ordering a new pair of shoes made for you. Please go see the cobbler to have measurements taken of your feet.” She turned and left as the laughter from the group started once more. As Seldonia left the room the laughter was fading behind her. She stepped out in to the daylight, allowing her eyes to adjust to the bright sun. She could hear the distinct sound of hammers from just up the street and headed in that direction. As she approached the construction site she could see there were men on the roof tops and others on ladders, holes in the roof were being repaired and Seldonia marveled at the new paint colors being put on the house. She took out apiece of paper to mark her location within the Stronghold. “If Lord Sook wants people to see the new look around town then I shall direct them here.” She strode off leaving the sound of hammers and saws behind here. As she made her way further up the street there were more crews painting, “These guys are quick!” Seldonia said to herself as she stepped into the print shop. Speedy, the man standing behind the counter greeted her with his usual cheerful tone, “Good afternoon Seldonia, what brings you here on this fine day?” She pulled out the draft of a flier she had drawn up at the meeting, the location of the newly painted home scribbled freshly on the bottom. “I need two hundred of these printed up immediately, Speedy.” He did not look happy. “Oh do you now?” his Irish brogue coming through in thick tones which told Seldonia how angry he really was. “Yes, by order of High Lord Sook himself!” Speedy, looked skeptical but backed off a bit, he had heard the rumor circulating about Seldonia. “Fine!” he relented with a little anger in his voice, “I shall halt all my other jobs for this one.” Seldonia knew quite well he had no other jobs, she was his biggest customer on a regular basis. “Thank you Sir Speedy, I appreciate your assistance,” she said as she handed him the page she had put the information on. “I will be back later this evening, I assume you will be finished by then?” she winked at him. “Yeah, yeah, whatever you want,” he replied as he looked down at the page to see exactly what it was that was so important. “Whoa there lady!” Seldonia turned back to him, “What?” He tapped the page where she scribbled the address, “Can you perhaps put that in a language I can read?” Seldonia laughed at the man, “I am sorry, I was in a rush, let me rewrite the whole thing for you.” She grabbed a new page and started to write. As Per Order of High Lord Sook: To All Silver Dragon Stronghold Residents, Talon Vastiner and his crew have taken on the daunting task of upgrading the Stronghold in which we live. You will see some changes coming in the near future to all of your homes. I strongly suggest that you visit some of the houses currently being worked on at the following location. http://silverdragons-lair.net/xenforo/index.php As your High Lord I expect there to be some that may not like what they see, I assure you there are plenty of colorful palettes to choose from, and more are coming in by caravan. Please let us know how you like these new changes to our Stronghold by reporting to the criers ((Forums)) as they will be set up in a location for all to speak their mind. Thank you for your cooperation. Seldonia slid the paper across the counter to Speedy. “As you can see this is quite important, it affects all of us. Please get the fliers done as soon as you can.”
I like the new site a lot. It seems there's been some improvements/adjustments since the last time I checked it out. Foremost being that I didn't have to change the color scheme of the page to be able to read what I typed. I like the dragon images on the top and background also.
